I'm 19 years old, a serious runner, up until late august I was in perfect health.

In late august, I became very sick. I had a very high fever for four days, an extreme headache that made my mom call the doctor in the middle of the night, dizziness, head pressure, ears hurt, back/neck ache and body aches, shooting pains, lack of appetite, nausea.

I didn't have a tick but since I live in a high tick inhabited area, the doctor tested me for Lyme. Initially it came back positive that I had Lyme and Ehrlichiosis and I was put on Doxycyclin.

Within a week I was feeling great and back to normal and began running. I was on that medicine for 21 days. I was sick for a total 3 weeks.

Then in mid-October I felt sick again, not as bad but I felt like I did in august. I was away at college, so I would've had to see my doctor again so I kind of just lived with it.

Around that time I began taking a low dose of antibiotic for acne, which was pre-scribed from my dermatologist. The symptoms disappeared and I continued running.

In the beginning of December, I started feeling sick.

I was nauseous, headache, weak, dizzy, my stomach was making funky noises, tired, back and neck hurt, and body aches, jaw hurt, head pressure (like I have a head cold or sinus infection without the snuffy nose, cough, or sore throat).

I always felt like I drank way too much coffee.

After a week I went to the doctor. He tested my blood again. I got a sonogram of my abdomen and pelvis.

Everything was fine, except it said I had Lyme again. NO lupus, kidney problems, thyroid, nothing.

I was put back on Doxycycline for 14 days.I still didn't feel better.

So, I went to a rheumatologist at Columbia Pres. in New York City on Dec. 27th.

He ran more blood tests and switched me to Ceforauxime.

I've been on antibiotics for more than a month and still do not feel well.

The new blood tests came back negative and said that I have no Lyme antibodies in my blood, so it is technically out of my system.

However, I am still very tired, shaky, weak, my back aches, neck hurts, legs hurt, my head hurts sometimes, its hard to explain but I just don't feel good.

I've sat and layed around for a month. I don't have and energy to do anything.

I will go out or do something, like shower and get dressed, then I really don't feel well.

I don't have arthritis and the doctor thinks I do not have Lyme anymore.

He told me to get moving which I have but I still feel sick.

I want to get my normal life back. I want to go out with my friends. I never used to lay around.

I have to go back to school in ten days but I don't want to feeling like this.

Could I still have Lyme? What can I do? Does anyone know of a doctor I could see that would help me? Anything? Please. Thanks.

Given that you have been diagnosed with Lyme twice, my layman's opinion is that you have relapsed and you need to find a doctor who will treat you fairly aggressively for an extended period. Good luck.

No doubt their not treating the lyme aggressively enough or long enough. Not showing the antibodies means nothing as they can hide from these tests and get out of the bloodstream quickly.

Here's link to NY support groups you can contact and they can steer you in the right direction or someone from the board will send you a Private Message with doctor info.

welcome 8,

wow, you've been thru the pits like the rest of us getting the runaround from your drs. too.

'The new blood tests came back negative and said that I have no Lyme antibodies in my blood, so it is technically out of my system"

8, what specific lyme tests were done and by WHICH LAB ?

in the newbie links/advise i sent you earlier today; we recommend only:

IGENEX, MD LABS, & BOWEN which have the most lyme-sensitive equipment testing all the protein bands!

from what you have said from the beginning, you were NEVER GIVEN LONG ENOUGH ANTIBIOTICS, so you were never cured from day 1.

so looks to this NON-MD that you have joined us in CHRONIC lyme; lasting longer than 30 days and needing long-term antibiotics or ALTERNATIVE therapy to help put you into remission.

did you contact the support group that np directed you too?

if you do NOT get names from the leaders you call, please post in SEEKING DRS. area, and show specific state and LARGE CITIES closest to you; we'll do our best to help you out ok!

right now, do NOT overdo anything on your good days, or it's going to put your far behind where you are right now.

print our dr. burrascano's 33 pages of 05 lyme treatment guidelines. good luck runner! [Big Grin]
