I'm a 53-year-old male looking for an LLMD for myself in central Massachusetts, or as close to same as possible. Worcester, Fitchburg, Leominster, Framingham, Acton, Concord, and Marlborough are some of the larger nearby towns.
I removed an embedded tick from the upper part of my left shin in early November of 2007. It had probably been there for less than 24 hours. No rash appeared. I have not sought or received any treatment or testing.
In January of this year I noticed tenderness and slight swelling in the shin "downstream" from the bite site, on the inside of the shin in the vicinity of the bones. The tenderness sometimes included burning and itching sensations.
I am still experiencing these symptoms 3 months later. They flare up and then disappear periodically. I run regularly but the flare-up of the symptoms does not seem to be associated with running.
I haven't experienced any arthritis, headaches, fevers, etc., although I have had some difficulty sleeping and moderate depression, which I put down to SAD.
Thank you for any help you can give me in locating an LLMD. I have a neighbor who almost had to hold her doctor at knife point to get him to do a test for Lyme, when she had any number of symptoms. I don't want to go through that grief!
