I was recently diagnosed with lyme just a few days ago, was put on Doxycycline 100mg 2x a day. The last time I ever remember having a encounter with a tick was when I was 10 years old. The Doxycycline has made me increadably ill, I have lost over a pound, and I feel the worst then I have in months, lower back pain, jaw pain, dizziness, very low blood pressure (especially upon standing up) and a terrible memory. I have made a call to my doctor but the first day she was out of the office and did not return my call, the next day I am dehydrated, and still sick, and decided to stop the medication myself, I called in the AM, but still did not return my call. I called in PM, and was told she will call me back after patients. At 6:30 Pm her nurse called me back sounding irritated and informed me that I needed to continue the medication. I need advice.

WEll, sounds like you are having what we refer to as a herx. YOu can look up Jarisch-Herxheimer for more info.

200mg per day is not enough, but since you're having trouble tolerating that doesn't help!!

Be SURE you are taking the doxy with FOOD!!! Do NOT lie down for at LEAST an hour after taking it....more time if you can.

There are not any LLMD's in IL... Sorry to tell you that.

YOur best bet is Missouri. I'll send you a PM with some info.

Welcome! [Smile]
