I am in a real fix! My LLMD 300 miles away has for the last 8 years worked with my primary care doc who is local to me. It's always worked out fine - until now.
Last month, my primary care ordered a month of IV Rocephin for me and then I went to my LLMD to get him to take care of things beyond that, but I still wanted/assumed we'd have the original arrangement we had had for so long. I had to go on disability through work and my primary care was handling my disability papers, however, he really hates filling out forms.
When I got back from my LLMD's visit almost two weeks ago, it was too late that week to contact my primary doc. I had surgery that Monday for a hernia and spent last week in bed and recovering from it. I also developed a rash from the Rocephin and was waiting on my LLMD to contact me about it. I held off on calling my primary to find out what really needed to be done by my LLMD. If I talked to my primary too early, I would have run the risk of him having my line pulled. I waited all week, but I called my primary yesterday to fill him in. He flew into a rage about my LLMD not discussing it with me (heck, I had trouble for several days getting my LLMD to discuss it with me) and said that the LLMD could take my whole case and filling out my disability papers too. I tried to explain why there was a delay, but he started chewing me out, saying he's "tempted to say screw it and drop me as a patient" and that he hates my insurance company, he's mad at my LLMD ("Why does he get the fun while I have to fill out forms?"), etc.
When I told him I needed him to fill out my disability papers and that keeps a roof over my head, he just said it wasn't his responsibility.
I'm really in shock from his reaction and need to find a good primary care doctor near Baltimore who 1) is lyme literate or at least believes in chronic lyme and 2) is willing to work with my out of state LLMD and 3) doesn't mind doing disability forms. It seems like a tall order, but I have no choice - I can't rely on my primary care to stay my primary.
I think maybe he got scared by his own prescribing Rocephin, which I understand he rarely ever does, and got nervous that he's putting lyme down on disability forms. I don't know. He really lost it on the phone. I tried hard to clear up the misunderstanding, but he wouldn't hear it or hardly let me finish a sentence.
I'm kind of at a loss as to what to do. I don't need him yelling at my LLMD, that's for sure! He's got his own temper and I don't want to be in the middle of it. I have to have further disability papers signed the 15th, and I'm not sure who to approach. If I ask my primary again, he'll chew me out and kick me out of his office, but my LLMD is very hard to get a hold of.
If anyone knows of a lyme literate primary care doctor in the Baltimore area, it would be HUGE help if you could PM me. Thank you so much.

So sorry, but I don't think there is a PCP anywhere in the state of Maryland who knows squat about lyme (except of course that you need a positive Elisa and 3 weeks of antibiotics) .
However, there are several terrific LLMDs in Maryland . . . a couple of them are near Baltimore. Have you considered changing LLMDs?
I know that does not help your PCP problem. If by some miracle of miracles you happen to find a lyme literate PCP, I sure would appreciate you passing the name on to me.
Sorry you are going through all this frustration.

My LLMD is also a PCP - in York. Would that be too far? Send me a private message if you want this name.

Hi Guy! Any luck getting the name of an LL PCP?
Marian -- I have heard great things about your LLMD, but I have filled out paperwork twice for their office while I am on the waiting list. I still have not been called back.
Hope you found someone, Guy.
