I'm looking for someone in the Boston area.
I found a deer tick on my girlfriend. Believe it was on her about 40 hours.

Today (3.5 days after the bite) she started to experience flu like symptoms, low grade fever, general aches, and fatigue. In addition she has been experiencing some stomach cramping, and started to develop some radiating sensation to her right jaw this evening.

She does not yet exhibit any EM, but there is a small red spot at the bite site app the size of a pencil eraser.

We spoke to her PCP by phone, but he quickly said he didn't think she had Lyme's because she didn't have a rash, and it hadn't been on her for more than 48 hours. Given that it has only been a few days, and that a rash may not present in many cases, or may take days to weeks to develop, I'm not happy with his quick dismissal of our concerns.
With the new mandatory health insurance in Mass MD's are even more over burdened and in the past this MD has demonstrated that he isn't interested in spending the time to get to know his patients or really listen to their concerns.
He suggested we bring the tick in for him to look at, but I am hesitant to give it to him as I would like to have it properly tested. I can identify it as a deer tick nymph, I want to find out if it is carrying Lymes.

Thanks to this site I have a few options of places to go for testing.

Now I'm looking for an MD who can give us advice/treatment based on sound knowledge of Lyme's disease. And someone who will listen and either relieve her concerns or act on them rather than dismiss them.

Please help she would like to be treated ASAP if that is the way to go.

Thank you

bc welcome, so glad you found us in TIME TO CURE HER!!!!

time is very valuable here. you need her dr. to prescribe 400 mg of doxycyclone, 200 mg twice a day spaced out 12 hours for 3 months!!

you'll be lucky to get 30 days; but get that first!! NO WAITING ... STARTING TODAY AT 8 AM!!!

SHE HAS got to have this long enough/strong enough to CURE her since it is a recent embedded tick that could carry lyme and/OR co-infections ... there are many of them!

it's a long waiting period for most llmds!!! you need to get the antibiotics going now!

check your private messages; i'll send you mass llmds except for the infectious dr. we have since he does NOT test or treat for CO-INFECTIONS!

If you pcp wont give you/her antibiotics, I eould go to a walk in clinic or er and say the tick was on for 4 days and was fat with blood.

just tell them what they want to hear and you should get some meds.
