Hello, and thanks ahead of time for your help!
Diagnosed with Lyme's 2 weeks ago - my Son, Ben, 30, has been seeking medical help for the past 12 years, especially the past 8. He has usually been diagnosed with M.S., but the doctors (14 in all) have always said his illness isn't "true" MS - he at times runs high fevers (104) 3 or 4 times a week for months. Gradually he has lost motor function and is now in a wheel chair. He was seen by a wonderful naturopath and diagnosed with Lymes, hemobaronella and Ehrlichiosis - just a couple of weeks ago. We need a competent doctor, an M.D. (so we can get Medicare coverage). He is a sick young man. Our family doctor started Ben on Amoxocylin 4 weeks ago, becasue of an infection from a pressure sore. His symptoms already have started to improve slightly - yeah! The naturopath has ordered him to start two different antibiotics, but did a liver panel first, and his liver enzymes are up (they were normal four months ago.) The naturopath told him to go to his family doctor and not start the two new antibiotics. Our family doctor is willing to help - but not initiate any treatment for Chronic Lyme's. Ben is a complicated and advanced Lyme patient. We need help, I'm an RN, but I'm way over my head. (Ben just wants to go to Dr. Singleton, and eventually get out of his wheel chair I think that is a remote possibility - but not impossible.) What should I do next? - from Eastern Washington State [Eek!]
