My 11 year old son just spent four hours in the Emergency Room. He has a high fever, joint pain, head ache, sore throat and neck pain. He was referred to the ER by our PCP, who was concerned about the possibility of Meningitis.
The ER Doc thinks his symptoms are more in line with Lyme Disease. We are awaiting results of a Blood Culture. My son was also seen a month ago by our PCP for a rash on his tummy (not a Bull's Eye), headache and joint pain. He was given IV antibiotics in the ER and is now on Amoxicillin for two weeks at home.
Having read more about Lyme Disease online, I believe that he may have had symptoms for a couple years. He has been treated for Migraine headaches and visual problems, including enlarged Optic Nerves (they questioned Glaucoma).
I am wondering if anyone can refer us to a good Pediatric LLMD in New Hampshire? We have a follow-up this afternoon, with our PCP but I don't think she is very knowledgable on Lyme Disease. Thanks for any help.

welcome momme, so glad you found us!!!

would you break up your solid block post into short paragraphs since we neuro lymies can NOT comprehend or read it as is. instructions below, and a big thank you!!
****************************

Fyi: we have over 1000 viewers daily; 200 - 400 posting/replying so we all must manage our time well; so specific titles get our time/replies. NON-SPECIFIC ONES, I SOB, SCROLL ON BY!
*************************************************************

Also, please be VERY SPECIFIC in subject line what you will be discussing.

Examples: on doxy and biaxin; need feedback:

PLEASE show your positive, +/-, and IND numbers from both IGG AND IGM; do it this way please!

IGM ... do same thing for IGG below IGM
*******************************************

18 +
41 +/-
78 IND

When you post or reply, please break up your solid, continuous block text [Smile]
welcome to the board! many of us have neuro lyme where we can NOT read long solid block text and be able to comprehend and read it as is.

please edit your post by CLICKING PAPER/PENCIL ICON to right of your name. that opens up BOTH subject line and body text.

now please break up your WORDY SENTENCES into one sentence paragraphs. Then hit ENTER KEY ``THREE`` after each paragraph; we need that space for comprehension.

if you are NOT a wordy person, you can do 2 or 3 total ok. do this for your entire post.

NOTE: you do NOT have to use "", just show the name of person you are responding to, and then type your comment.

IF you need to use "", PLEASE DELETE "BOLD" CODES so it's regular type text we read vs. the DARK, HARSH/PAINFUL BOLDING.

specifically, delete the first 4 characters of 2ND LINE of a ""

[QB] just delete these 4 characters, and BOLDING is GONE! my eyes will really appreciate that; it's one very bad side effect of my having lyme for 38.5 years!! xox

then go to left hand corner and mark box to receive ALL REPLIES, and click EDIT SEND

we thank you for helping us; [Wink] otherwise, we will SOB, SCROLL ON BY, since we can't read to help you. If I see posts like this, I SOB them; to hard on me. I'm also in the early stages of losing my eyesight from diabetes retinopathy. [Frown]

Thank you for your responses. Our PCP has referred my son to an Infectious Disease Specialist. We will see where that takes us, but I will keep the other Docs just in case. Thanks again.

mommee,

you do NOT want to go to an infectious disease dr!! you don't want your child to end up with chronic lyme like us!!!

infectious disease drs. use IDSA, their guidelines and do NOT BELIEVE IN CHRONIC LYME;

THEY TREAT FOR 3 WEEKS AND UNDER! [cussing]
***********************************

momme, that is NOT long enough!!!
********************************

your child should be treated with antibiotics long enough so they have 2 months with NO SYMPTOMS BEFORE DISCONTINUING!

please refer also to my newbie package link below the line; read table of contents and go from there about KIDS and lyme! good luck [group hug] [kiss]

Hi Mommee, I so agree with bettyg's email to you.

She is so right about the ID dr.s. I sent you my

very good llmd name and info on him to you by PM

on July 26 but you have not responded back to me.

Did you receive it? Have you read it, please let

me know. You live in the same state as I do and I

would like to help in any way.

Keep the faith and God bless.

Sorry for my delay in responding. Life is so busy with four kids, during the summer. Thank you all for your responses and your caring. My son is doing much better. All of his symptoms are gone. My PCP extended his antibiotics to three weeks so we sre just starting the last week. We got negative results from his blood culture. Does anyone know if that is a definate negative for Lyme? I realize that everyone is telling us not to see the ID Doctor, but we already have an appointment for Tuesday. We will see what he says. If we are not happy with him, I will return to our PCP and ask to go see the Doctor in Lebanon. My PCP is very good about listening to what we have to say. I will keep you posted after our appointment on Tuesday. Thanks again.
