I have BCBS and it seems many of the LLMD's that I was recommended to in Pennsylvania area do not take this insurance. Is there a better insurance that you can recommend? I am about to switch insurance in the end of August.

It doesn't matter what insurance you have. Most LLMD's don't participate with any. You can submit the bills, though, and they should pay some portion of it.

Thanks. I have a choice between HMO and not. Should I go without an HMO? I am trying to choose between Aetna and BCBS.

camille,

are you on medicare??

did llmd OUT OF MEDICARE? yes,

MY IOWA BCBS WOULD NOT PAY ANYTHING OF $5,000 since llmd opted out of medicare.

medicare didn't send bcbs a DENIED form; so they did not have to pay out of secondary insurance!!!

be really careful before signing up and you pay huge monthly fees and they do NOT PAY!

I don't have Medicare.

Thanks for the advice. I think I may go try Aetna. I do get Blue Cross through my school POS.

I have Blue Cross through my husband's employer.

It's very hard finding any LLMD's that are still taking insurance of ANY kind, but there are a handful still out there.

But as someone said, you can still submit the doctor bills to your insurance company.

Then again it's a hit or miss as to whether an insurance company will pay for the meds. I was doing fine getting covered with 20 months of orals but once I was told IV, it's been total bucking.

But different people get stopped at different points even within the same insurance companies. It's a crap shoot.
