I was diagnosed with Lyme's on Saturday by a doctor who didn't seem to know a whole lot and was excited to be making a diagnoses instead of helping me. Do you know someone who can look at my bite mark and know if it is Lyme or not. I started antibiotics already but still want someone else to look at it. Thanks!

Recommend you join the CaliforniaLyme on-line support group:

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/CaliforniaLyme/

There are members in your area who can tell you about doctors.

Also, the California Lyme Disease Association website maintains a list of support groups throughout the state. Check for one in your area:

Hello- Thanks for the quick response. I have a bite mark that is red in the middle (probably from scratching) and a white area about 2" wide that is surrounded by a red ring. I probably got bit by something in Yosemite about 10 days ago. I noticed it a week after I probably got it. I thought it was a mosquito bite but after I week I decided to look at it, since it is on my butt. I saw a dermatologist yesterday who thinks it is just a bug or spider bite. Now I don't know what to do. They ordered a blood test and he said if it comes back "0" then I should take the antibiotics for 10 days instead of the 21. I'm not a huge antibiotic fan, but for something like Lyme I think it is worth it. The redness has gone down a lot and the raised white part in the middle. I'll look at the article that was suggested. Are blood tests really accurate, even though I've been on antibiotics for a few days? If it comes back "0" should I go off antibiotics. I haven't had any other symptoms. The dermatologist said that only 2% of ticks in Cali carry Lyme. He said this when I asked him if he's seen many cases. That was his answer, which I think is wrong. Anyway, I really need to decide what to do. I still think I need to see or talk to someone who really knows Lyme. Thanks for you help! Firebug

Thanks for you help! Firebug

Broke it up for those of us with neuro lyme.

So glad you caught whatever it is early and you do not have symptoms.

yes. Getting to LLMD is a great idea.

I would be interested in seeing if you continue to not have symptoms since you caught this early.

If it is lyme and company.

Gosh...had another thought and forgot it.

Oh Yes. Testing. The LLMD can help you out with that too.

Nice time of the year to be at Yosemite. I have no idea what their rate of infection. I doubt anyone does.

I am guessing the area has not been checked.
