I'm new to this, so hope I'm not giving too much info...

Our 7 year old son was treated for Lymes on 8/8/08. He was seen by our PCP (several docs in one practice) about 10 days earlier for a large red/pink "bite" on his arm. A few days later we noticed it looked like a bullseye. We called about TESTING & were told blood test would not show until 2-4 or 3-6 weeks later, so waited a few more days, then asked to have him SEEN by PCP again (dif doc this time) who instantly prescribed Amoxicillin 2x/day -- for 10 days if negative and 20 days if positive (Doxy is only FDA approved for those 8 years and older). Bullseye was 10 cm x 15 cm at this point. A new red/pin area appeared on his back the day after starting amoxicillin. I immediately made appts on my own for him to be seen by Dr. P in York, PA and Dr. D in Hershey, PA. Recommended Amoxicillin dose be given 3x/day for total of 20 days. Not sure what test was run but it came back negative (drawn 9 days after bite - a bit soon?).

All seemed ok, but around mid-September he mentioned knees hurt one morning, then again 2 days later one hurt, next day the other one hurt, then ankle hurt, seemed extra cranky a few days, fell asleep on way home from sitter's 2 or 3 times, even said his joint at index finger/hand hurt one night after 5 minutes of doing homework, and now (after sister and brother got a cold) he has a cold and for three nights this week has slept from 5 PM until about 6:30 AM (pops awake at normal wake up time on own). Granted he is taking meds and inhaler for cold which makes you sleepy. Today he was back to doctor & started Benadryl for a rash (from antibiotic?). Rash seems to be gone tonight. I have a reason/excuse why everything hurts - sick, growing pains, fell on grass while playing, new school shoes, etc......but wonder if it could be Lymes. We live in the York/Adams County area which are two of the largest growing number of Lymes cases in the state.

Is there a LLMD anywhere in the Gettysburg, PA; York, PA; Lancaster, PA; Baltimore, MD; or anywhere else (willing to drive) that you recommend? How long after a dose of antibiotics can he be tested? How do you MAKE CERTAIN the test is done by the IGeneX lab or one that is as accurate as this lab? Do I ask for a certain test (tests) first?

Part of me says I am making too much of this, but I know I am doing a lot of extra praying just in case.

Whatever names you are given....check them out!!!!

Ask around here and in your area.

Call the dr's office and ask questions....like do they use Igenex...IF no, move on.

Ask for test #188 and 189 from Igenex. www.igenex.com

WANT OUR OPINION

WE SPENT 13 YEARS IN FL W/ THIS DISEASE AND FOUND ONLY 1 DOC

DR C IN TAMPA

BUT IF I HAD TO DO IT AGAIN I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN THE HELL OUT OF FLORIDA W/ THID DISEASE

DR C IS THE ONLY ONE
IF YOU NEED TO SEE ANY OTHER DOCS ASIDE FROM DOC C THEY WILL WORK AGAINST YOUR LYME DIAGNOSES

THIS IS AIG PROBLEM - PLUS DOC C HAS SOME OF HIS OWN HEALTH ISSUES WHICH HAVE CAUSED HIM TO REDUCE HS # OF PATIENTS

AGAIN GET THE HELL OUT OF FLORIDA - IT MIGHT BE TE WORST PLACE FOR YOU TO SEEK TREATMENT W/ LYME

WE NOW TRAVEL ALL THE WAY TO DR P IN CT AND THE DIFFERENCE IS LIKE NIGHT AND DAY

NOT ONLY DO WE GET SUPPRT FROM DR P BUT ALSO ALL THE REFERRED SPECIALISTS HE WORKS WITH THAT ARE ALL ON BOARD -- NOT AT ALL LIKE YOU WILL ET ANYWHERE IN FL

TRUST ME GET OUT - WHILE YOU CAN STILL WALK - MY WIFE IS IN A WHEELCHAIR NOW

AFTER LAST TREATMENT W/ DOC C SHE WAS BETTER BUT ONLY FOR 9 MONTHS THEN GOT WORSE THAN EVER

DR P IS LISC IN CT AND NY AND ALSO TREATS MANY PEOPLE FROM MA AND ALL OVER THE COUNTRY

ANOTHER DOC IS DR L FROM ARMONK NY -
