Hi! I've been devouring LD books and websites, but this is my first attempt at getting all networky; bear with me as I refresh my message board skills. [Smile]

Here we go:

A) Age: typical college student, and I'm the one seeking treatment

B) I had a WB (igm/igg) taken, but they sent it to Quest. I have a copy of the results.

C) I've had at least two embedded ticks in the last decade, but I would assume I've had more bites. I'm an outdoorsy girl, and wasn't especially careful until recently. A half-dollar-size rash did form around one of the bites, but it wasn't the typical bulls-eye, so I didn't realize it was significant at the time--about 6 or 7 years ago.

D) Symptoms: I have five typed pages of the serious ones. I'll spare you.

I've experienced very poor health for at least a decade, but I assumed I was being a wimp. This past month and a half has introduced dozens of new symptoms, and finally has forced me to slow down and reevaluate.

The main concerns: intense muscle pain and weakness (and every other bad sensation you can imagine) in hands and arms, an 8-year-long headache, intense fatigue, and just this past week, arthritic knees and ankles. I can't drive most days and have to get rides, and I'm having trouble retaining information and completing homework. I've been a 4.0 student through the years of pain, so this is where I'm drawing the line.

A couple weeks ago, I found a neurologist who was willing to prescribe a month of a low dose antibiotic, but I'm seeking new leads.

E) I'm in IL. Big cities around here are Springfield, Bloomington-Normal, Champaign, St. Louis and Chicago. I'm totally willing to go out of state.

I'd appreciate any input, and thanks for putting in the work to maintain a site like this!

if you get another rash though, take photos of it using coins or $1 bill to show size and have today's dated newspaper visible in photo.

Dr. Burrascano's most recent "Diagnostic Hints and Treatment Guidelines for Lyme and Other Tick Borne Illnesses" @
http://www.ilads.org/burrascano_0905.html
suggests that you discuss with your doctor continuing treatment until you are symptom free for 2 months.
