I'm looking for a LLMD in Colorado, hopefully one in the Denver/Boulder/Colorado Springs area.
Here is some additional information about my condition.
I'm in my mid 40's and VERY active which has been one of the hardest parts about dealing with this. I spend lots of time out in the woods in Colorado and usually travel abroad a couple of times a year to hike/backpack/climb. I also have relatives in NY in an area known for high concentrations of Lyme Disease. My symptoms started about 10 months ago. That year I had traveled to Peru, Norway and China. I do not remember ever being bitten by a tick or any kind of rash or bulls eye but it is very possible since I spend a lot of time in the backcountry.
I got a referral from my primary care physician to a RA doc but nothing they tested me for came out positive. I then saw an infectious disease doc who tested me for European Lyme disease but again my tests all showed up negative. I then went to see the University docs (RA dept) here at the University of Colorado Hospital but again I didn't test positive for anything.
The only thing I have tested positive for is Parvo, but that was just my IGG which indicates sometime in the past 47 years I have had Parvo and Parvo usually comes and goes in a month or two with no lasting effects.
My symptoms are severe joint and muscle pain. They started with pain in my left bicep and then jumped into my left shoulder and then to my right shoulder and then into both of my hips. After about six months it moved into my wrists and hands. It feels like something is taking over my body! Mostly the pain is in my joints but it has also been in both biceps and both my hamstrings on my legs have been very tight.
I've been taking NSAIDS (Started with Ibuprofen and then switched to Voltarian) which do provide some relief of my symptoms. I really don't like taking something that is just masking my condition, and want to treat whatever it is that has taken over my body.
At its worst, back around April, it was difficult for me to raise my arms above my head, or lift a gallon of milk out of the refrig or pick up my 21 pound daughter. I also needed help getting out of bed when my symptoms were at their worst.
Exercise appears to help alleviate my symptoms and make me feel better.
My symptoms have backed off a bit in the past couple of months but my left bicep, both shoulders and my wrists and fingers are all still affected.
Any help in finding a LLMD would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help!
