I need an LLMD within driving distance of Atlanta.
Can you tell me about your personal experiences with any of them (good, bad, or hopefully great!)
Answers to Betty's 4 questions:
1. I need an LLMD for myself.
2. Symptoms
- Almost constant sinus-type headache, especially in my cheeks and eye sockets
- Crushing fatigue, which when it hits, is usually coupled with a weird taste/feeling in my mouth (almost metallic, but not quite)
- Can't stand up for very long, e.g., sometimes have to sit down halfway through a shower
- Difficulty thinking and articulating when tired (problem-solving especially frustrating)
- Weight on my chest, like I can't get a full "lungfull" of air, which causes me to inhale deeply and sigh a lot
- Joint pain, especially hips and knees, but also ankles, feet, toes, wrists, elbows and fingers (no swelling)
- Muscle pain/bone pain, and aching, as with the flu
- Stiff neck & shoulder
- Low back pain
- Abdominal pain
- Occasional night sweats (limited to neck and shoulder area, oddly enough) and chills
- Sensitivity to sounds -- putting silverware away is the worst!
- Vision disturbances: blurriness that comes and goes, sensitivity to glare, BUT I find I need significantly more indoor lighting to see well (I've always had better than 20/20 vision; never wore glasses)
- Tingling/crawling sensations that go in waves across my body, very similar to when you get goosebumps, but it happens when I'm not cold
- Occasional sharp stabbing pains
3. I never had a bulls-eye rash of any kind, just EXTREME itching (and from a *tiny* deer tick nymph).
The bite site became a slightly raised, reddish, somewhat flat circle about the size of a dime or nickel (also gave off heat). The bite site itched like crazy for almost 6 weeks, when I finally started on some antibiotics.
4. Blood tests were by LabCorp
Sep 2007: Bitten by deer tick nymph
Dec 2007: Lyme IgG/IgM Ab Negative
Jan 2008: Lyme Ab IgG by WB negative (P41 Ab present) Lyme Ab IgM by WB positive (P39 Ab and P23 Ab present)
7 months of doxycycline (400mg/day) helped a lot, but did not cure me. Then I was told my doctor would no longer be seeing lyme patients.
Thanks for names, but especially for your experiences -- while my first LLMD seemed familiar with treating lyme, he also expressed some cynicism toward lyme patients.

I'm still looking for feedback on LLMDs in the Southeast (from your personal experiences).
Anyone?
