Hello, my name is Fiona Davis and I am a 19 year old college student.

I have never been diagnose with Lyme disease but recently have researched the topic.

When I was a younger teen I was always out on farms and in the woods with my family.

I had been bit by ticks a few times that I know of.

I suddenly developed a rash when I was maybe 12 or 13.

It never itched or anything and it never had the bullseye effect but it is and oval shaped patchy rash.

It gets light and darker as it wants to and some people even thought it was burn marks.

For years I have suffered with debiliating headaches and joint pain with no reason.

I have had MRI's and X rays with all negative results.

Ever since I developed my rash I have had great fatigue and have no reason for this feeling.

I'm always exhausted and feel as though I'm constantly sick but with no reason for this either.

A year or so ago I had intense joint pain in my shoulder.

It got so bad that I couldn't even open and close a car door anymore.

I have had joint pain before but it suddenly got worse.

Then it just went away.

A little while later my elbows had the same problem, then my knees and now my ankles and feet ache all the time.

They have become swollen and I can barely walk.

I'm on medicine for akilies facinitis but it isn't helping at all and the foot specialist I went to didn't even touch my foot before diagnosis!

I'm deperate for answers and help even if Lyme disease isn't whats wrong at least it's better than saying there isn't anything wrong with me.

Thank you for anyone who may be able to help me. It is very much appeciated

welcome fiona! check your profile for ohio names. [Smile]

please break up your entire post into SHORT paragraphs for us neuro lyme folks who can not read or comprehend what you typed if you'd like us to be able to help YOU [Smile] see below guidelines for editing! [Smile]

Welcome; i'm so glad you found us!! You've come to the right place for education and support!

Dr. Burrascano's most recent "Diagnostic Hints and 2008 Treatment Guidelines for Lyme and Other Tick Borne Illnesses" @

http://www.betterhealthguy.com/images/stories/PDF/LYMDX8RX2008-October.pdf

Dr. B's Supplement List

this link, making the most of your LLMD visit, may help you also.

please see BettyG's newbie package info on the link below; click on link at bottom of my package. Check it out as time permits for you!

sorry, link takes you to END vs. beginning, so just use UP ARROW and go to the TOP for detailed info! thanks!
***************
please go to my newbie links, copy the entire thing, and then print this off....FINANCIAL BURDENS compiled by melanie reber
print off pages 74 - 92; outstanding info there. i believe there are a few more general comments there without links!! print that off too as it's newer info from members thru their own personal, tragic experiences.

Betty's POSTING GUIDELINES . many of us have neuro lyme where we can NOT read long solid block text and be able to comprehend and read it as is.

please edit your post by CLICKING PAPER/PENCIL ICON to right of your name. that opens up BOTH subject line and body text.

now please break up your WORDY SENTENCES into one sentence paragraphs. Then hit ENTER KEY ``TWICE`` after each paragraph; we need that space for comprehension.

NOTE: you do NOT have to use "", just show the name of person you are responding to, and then type your comment.

IF you need to use "", PLEASE DELETE "BOLD" CODES so it's regular type text we read vs. the DARK, HARSH/PAINFUL BOLDING. delete the first 4 characters of 2ND LINE of a ""

[QB] just delete these 4 characters, and BOLDING is GONE! my eyes will really appreciate that; it's one very bad side effect of my having lyme for 38.5 years!! xox

then go to left hand corner and mark box to receive ALL REPLIES, and click EDIT SEND

we thank you for helping us; [Wink] otherwise, we will SOB, SCROLL ON BY, since we can't read to help you. If I see posts like this, I SOB them; to hard on me.

People seeking doctors might be able to get help from their state online information and support group. Nearly 3,400 people belong to state groups. Some of the groups are small but more than 20 of them have 50 or more people and seven have over 100.

To find your state group, go to
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/statenamelyme

Type your state name and lyme as one word, like this -
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/newyorklyme

South Carolina is the only state that needs a hyphen between the statename
and lyme, e.g. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/southcarolina-lyme

The groups are moderated and you have to apply. Most don't allow doctor names, but once on the group, you can ask for doctors in a certain area and ask people to email you privately.

fiona, if you had a rash afterwards, you have lyme! now that darn tick may have other diseases too; they are called co-infections!!

be sure to look thru my table of contents for my newbie package, and find the lists of lyme, babs, bart, erlichia, etc...co-infections too.

i'd never heard of your foot dx before ...

"A little while later my elbows had the same problem, then my knees and now my ankles and feet ache all the time.

thanks for editing so i could read it; you've been sick a long time like the rest of us. GLAD YOU FOUND US; we'll help you find answers too! [group hug] [kiss]

Fiona,

Welcome. First, I suggest going back to your post above and deleting your last name. The little page icon on the upper left of your post - click on it - and you can delete or edit.

If you keep your full name there, anytime someone googles your name, anything you say here can be traced to you. And for privacy matters in your medical and insurance files, it's best not to have that so readily available.

======

Your foot problem could be lyme related but, in defense of the foot specialist, you probably did present with a classic case of fasciitis. I had that, too.

You still have to do all the stretches they tell you and massage helps - but I hope you did not get a steroid shot. If you did, be CERTAIN to tell the LLMD that when you get your appointment.

Steroids can make lyme worse.

Be sure to wear very stable shoes as your feet really need that right now.

======

Yes, I'd put all my money on lyme. Not all lyme rashes are in a bulls eye shape.

I hope you can find a good LLMD - and I hope you can get some help with your studies.

I first become ill in college (they said it was mono) and I never really got better. Ticks were just a way of life in Wisconsin, where I attended college.

The thing with college is that it's hard to take care of yourself. There is the stay-up-all-night studying thing on one hand and the party your behind off behavior going on at the same time.

None of that will work for lyme patients, so choose wisely.

Dorm food is not always very healthy, so be sure to get lots of dark and bright vegetables and enough protein. Avoid fried foods and sweets. Tart apples and berries are good (frozen berries if you have a freezer).

How you take care of yourself can make all the difference in whether treatment will work, so if you need help, ask someone on the college staff for ways to work this out.

Good luck.

Hi all-

Not sure how to use this forum, so anyone with info, please help.

I have just concluded that my very ill daughter has advanced Lyme.

We used to live in a heavily infected area in Massachusetts. Friend's child there with same symptoms was finally diagnosed with Lyme after years of misdiagnosis.

Need a LLMD in/near Dayton area ASAP. Daughter unable to attend school due to sypmtoms.

Please help if you can. Pediatrician's Lyme test came out negative, need an LLMD.

Thank you!!!

ML
