Hi!

This is my first message to the group.

I had antibiotics for a month in August after diagnosis at my doctor's office. (I took a tick off in May but never got the telltale spot.)

I felt better and in December the stiffness and muscle inflammation/pain seemed to be returning.

I just went to the doctor and did another test which the office said was all normal but I'm not better and no treatment was offered.

Those of you that got better - did your doctors do multiple rounds of abx? Is that common?

Should I push for that here or seek a different doctor?

I'm exercising as that's where I see my

Hi Liz,

Welcome!

You will not get proper lyme treatment from that Dr.

You need a Lyme literate MD (LLMD)who is ILADS trained and follows the ILADS guidelines for treatment....see link...

http://www.ilads.org/files/ILADS_Guidelines.pdf

There is alot of other expert lyme info you should read....listed in newbie links, etc at the top of the Medical Questions message board.

Your Dr and 99% of Dr's follow the IDSA guidelines that give you a short course of antibiotics and proclaim that you are cured, despite continuing symptoms.

Your testing was probably done through a local lab and not Igenex, right? Testing is definitely not foolproof. Those other labs miss most cases of lyme.

Proper treatment consists of long term combination antibiotic therapy and lots of supplements, plus proper diet and exercise, etc.

You definitely need a LLMD. I looked for the location of Eagle, PA but couldn't find it. I'm in PA, but not the Southeastern part.

Be sure to also go to the "Medical Questions" board and post there too. There are tons of wonderful and intelligent people here with lots of experience.

I'm sending you a private message too.
