My mother is 79 and has lyme on and off for several years. She is now in the South County Hospital in Wakefield R.I. She is suffering from arthritic symptoms, and heart irregularies, damage has already been done to the right side of her heart. She is on an oral antibotic which I believe is not doing any good. Been on it for over a week now. Although being treated with an antibiotic, no one will admit that she has lyme. Does anyone know of a doctor in that area that I can get in touch with?

Hi there,
I live in Narragasnet. i'm sorry you're mom is so sick...there are no doctors in so county hospitial or ri for that matter who know anything about lyme disease. THey won't know how to treat your mom, or for how long i'm afraid. If you email me i can give you the name of a doctor in ny that i go to who is lyme literate...that will know the correct dosages etc.
or you can do a search here under the library and pull up dr. burrascano's guidelines and take it to her dr. at so. county hospital adn DEMAND that she put on that exact dosage..otherwise they'll put her on a smaller dosage for a shorter amount of time adn she will get sicker...
as endemeic as our area is , our dr.s here no very little about lyme disease. if you email me, I"ll give you my phone number adn you can call me also.

I agree that Dr B's guidelines should be given to doctors on your mom's case. Try to find one that is open minded.
It could take awhile before you see improvement on antibiotics.

I am new to being diagnosed with Lyme, I have suffered in sever pain for 2 years, got a full hysterctomy in hopes that would cure my problem. I just saw Dr. Donta in Falmouth on Cape who specializes in Lyme he is an infectious disease doctor, his number is 508-539-6666 email [email protected] you might want to email him which he responds quicker with your concerns.
