I posted on the medical board about this topic.
I feel like im doing everything i can to follow this diet. The only thing i am doing wrong still is a few products with nutrasweet in them.
I have been taking diflucan for 2 weeks now and i still feel like i have a yeast infection. I called my doctor yesterday and told her that and her nurse called back and said "well, your going to get a yeast infection if you are on ABX". I was thinking, "thanks for telling me that, i never thought about that possibility".
She told me to take acidophilus (im taking tons) and to use monistat for 7 days. I asked about Nystatin and she would NOT phone it in. I just dont understand. It seems that Nystatin is what most of you take because it is non toxic.
I bought olive leaf, oil of oregano, yeast busters, garlic, grapefruit seed extract, and a couple others i cant think of.
Im trying so hard and im just so upset about all of this. I cry everyday. I told my husband that i would rather deal with endometriosis because at least i could have a glass of wine and some pizza to comfort me. Instead, all i do is try, and try harder, and i feel terrible.
I see her next friday to get all my blood results and i will discuss this matter with her. Im bringing my husband for added support.
Sorry you are feeling so miserable...We always think if we work hard, try hard...that there will be payoffs for our efforts...and like you I have learned, with lyme...and yeast too...that isn't always so...
I didn't read your post in medical, but just going to throw out a possibility...Maybe you are miserable because you are killing a lot of yeast...Did you know you can herx from Candida die off just like you can from Lyme?? My gyn put me on heavy doses of Diflucan(before I even knew I had Lyme I thought it was all Candida, all my problems)...and I got soooo sick from Diflucan...and was not warned you can feel worse before you feel better...so I called up saying I can't tolerate this med, I'm quitting it (I felt better OFF the med)...but then I got the explanation...and was encouraged to stick with it...Took a good 2-3 weeks before I started to feel better...? Just a thought...
Hope things turn around soon though...Its hard to keep going on when you see no end in site, isn't it? I can relate...

I used the monistat last night and im 100 times worse today. I must be allergic to it. I also read the ingredients on the acidophilus i was taking and it has sorbitol in it. UGG!!!!! So, off to the health food store again.
Thank G-d i still can take the diflucan.
I dont think i could get through this without the support of this board.
I really hope my LLMD with prescribe nystatin when i see her.

I know what you mean by you saying that you are tying hard. Trying hard takes on a whole new meaning to us who deal with Lyme. I didn't know what hard was until three years ago when I first developed symptoms.
Be patient, it will get better. I promise it will. I am living proof of it !
Ohhh, and one other thing. I never had a yeast infection even though I took lots of different medications and over a year of IV Rocephin. Sure, I took precautions. And they were all worthwhile. Keep taking Acidophilus and keep on going......
Good Luck!
Best wishes, Stella
