If the votes on the NY bills are on Tuesday
there is still time to call or e-mail Gov. Pataki of NY.

See the "Miricle" post below for the e-mail and phone # to use to contact the Gov.

Here is the e-mail I sent:
(quote)
Dear Governor Pataki,

I am writing you to ask you to support two bills that will grant physicians in your state the simple grace of due process of law that is the right of every other citizen.

Two bills,S5221 and A7365a, will guarantee that doctors, such as those who treat Lyme disease according to their conscience and clinical judgement (rather than according to faulty tests and a CDC surveillance criteria, that even the CDC says should never be used to diagnose the disease), will be granted the decency and right to defend themself against harassment and prosecution by the Office of Professional Medical Conduct of your state.

Doctors all across the country are watching New York State to see if fairness and decency and justice and the law of the land will be supported, or whether they should dread that other states will follow the lead of New York State, if these bills are defeated, and will proceed to submit doctors who treat Lyme disease to the same harassment and disgrace that will remain the rule of the OPMC of New York.

Patients all across the country are very concerned that given the model established by New York and the threat to their own practices and livelihood, the doctors who now treat them will begin to refuse futher involvement in the treatment of Lyme disease.

Please support S5221 and A7365a in the name of justice.

Thank you,
(end quote)

To the top.
Even after the bills pass, the governor has to sign them, right? So writing or calling now can still be effective.

Feel free to duplicate my letter and put your name on the end. It is the numbers of contacts that count.

Here are the mailing and calling instructions:

To Write To The Governor:
Governor George E. Pataki
State Capitol
Albany, NY 12224

Phone:
518-474-8390

To Email The Governor: Click on the link below. Scroll down a little on the page it brings you to, and you will find a form for sendng your email http://161.11.3.75/

Please include your mailing address

THE MAIN THING TO GET ACROSS IS THAT YOU ARE ASKING FOR HIM TO SUPPORT S5221 AND A7365a. THE OPMC has targeted most of the doctors in NYS who treat chronic Lyme disease, and this has been a great threat to your well being. Both laws we are asking him to support provide due process for doctors. Right now the physicians do not really have much right to defend themselves against unjust charges. Let the Governor know how much your LLMD has helped. Tell him of your concern of what would happen to you if you were to lose your LLMD.

For those of you who don't live in NYS, please add that you know that physcians across the country who treat Lyme disease have watched what is happening in NYS so that further harassment of Lyme docs in NYS will mean less treatment for everyone across the country.

PLEASE DON'T NAME ANY DOCTORS, (EXCEPT DR. BURRASCANO WHOSE CASE HAS HAD A LOT OF PUBLICITY.) DO NOT BAD MOUTH ANY LEGISLATORS. PLEASE KEEP A RESPECTFUL TONE TO THE GOVERNER IN YOUR LETTER.

Ellen has asked us to continue with the calls until the legislature closes tonight or OPMC bill is passed. Which ever comes first.

If you have not contacted the Governor since Ellen put out her alert this past Saturday, she asks that you now call him again. (Phone 518-455-2200)

New Yorkers are asked to also call Senators Hannon (518-455-2200) and Bruno (518-445-3191) Please see Ellen's post from 9:00p.m. Monday night (last night)for details.

amen to all the above.

There are many other who would care about this bill...

any patient, anyone with CFS, any physician or DO, anyone who lives in New York...

Do you have contact with any other patient group?

Please ask them to call to support a doctor and patients right to treat the person as they decide.

Sincerely,
Regina

Ellen posted a new updated alert at 2:30 p.m. today.

Let's pass this bill sooner rather than later.

Please keep those calls coming!
