Gary I am so sorry for your loss. Pets become like our children and best friend rolled into one.Last summer when my husband was at his worst and spent about 20 hours a day on the couch, our springer spaniel would get up and lay on his chest, almost willing him to get better. They have an unbreakable bond.Thank goodness the dog cant cook.

Dang, I hate sad stuff! Gary, I'm so sorry to hear about "Tootsie". I know I still miss my beautiful border collie who passed away 20 yrs ago! One night a few weeks ago, I had a vivid dream that I was petting his silky coat. When I woke up I was comforted because "I got to pet him" once again!
Take care, and just know that many here understand completely!
I am sorry to hear of your beloved Tootsie's passing.
When my husband and I had to put down our sheltie, Nathan, six years ago, a good friend sent the following to me. I have stored it way since until now. I hope it may bring you some comfort.

The Rainbow Bridge
There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass.
When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There always is food and water and warm spring weather. The old and frail animals become young again. Those who are maimed are made whole again. They play all day with each other.
There is only one thing missing. They are not with their special humans who loved them on Earth. So, each day they run and play until the day comes when one pet suddenly stops playing and looks up! The nose twitches! The ears go up! The eyes stare! And then, that pet suddeny turns from the group!
You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her into your arms and embrace. Your face is kissed again and again and again and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated.

Gary, So sorry for the loss of your beloved Tootsie. My dogs (shy, I have springers too) are like my children to me, and I know what you are going through. As I was reading this I thought of "rainbow bridge" so I was glad to see Deb print it out for you. It was a lot of comfort to me when we lost our sweet "Brittany" 4 years ago. My thoughts are with you.
