yeah i have gotten really fat from my lyme disease. most likely from inactivity, so yeah I am gonna take it upon myself to go on a low calorie diet. I plan to still get all of the vitamins and minerals i need by eating nutrient-rich foods. but yeah i am cutting out simple carbs such as sugar and starch and alcohol and to cut back significantly on saturated fat. I have high cholesterol. I have read a cholesterol diet book and other info so I am gonna combine all of this info into a low cal diet.

anyone else had luck with dieting... I plan to go on a 1500 calorie a day diet with regular daily exercise.

Lazerorca,

How's this coming along for you?

I have been trying to do the low carb no sugar being on abx and all. Just do not have the time to exercise and do not have the "mental want to" either.
However, it seems after second baby and turning 30 a year ago, nothing is happening UNLESS I exercise.
Not like it was in my early 20s.

Yes.

I am in the National Registry of Weight Loss. I lost 150 lbs thru diet and exercise (my own program).

I ate all carbs.

I believe that losing weight is as much of a mental attitude as food. Here are some tips.

1. Get stress out of your life. That means staying away from toxic people. Whether they are co--workers or relatives. It could mean ending those relationships.

2. Avoid company lunches, parties, and having dinner at someone elses house. People say they are supportive of people losing weight but they really arent. If you bring cake to the office...that is not supportive! If you give people gifts of food...that is not supportive! If you invite someone over to your home, know they are trying to lose weight, and serve hamburgers and hotdogs...that is not being supportive!

3. Dont be fooled that you have to do aerobics. You dont. But do get some equipment. Hand weights, a jumpy little trampoline, and a roll bar to help you do situps (when I started I could only do 4 a day. Now I do 400 a day). I got the trampoline because I was too heavy for a treadmill.

4. Get rid of the scale! Throw it out. The goal is to get in shape. Not to weight a certain amount. Also, take a good look at people who work out a gyms. They are a healthy weight. But they are not stick thin. If your objective is to get healthy...the weight will take care of itself.

**All of these things are much easier if you are single. Nothing that comes into my house is junk food.

I wont even date someone who doesnt eat healty. I dont care if they are 300 lbs (I was 280) if they eat healthy. I also do not socialize with people who eat unhealty (it may seem cruel, but it is necessary).

Just my thoughts.

This was before I got Lyme disease. I lost weight, went on a hike, and ....got the bite of my life! HA!

I also do not believe that thinner is healthier. If you are a think person and eat junk food...you are not healthy. I dont care if you are thin.

I've given up all sugar and as much carbs as humanly possible (except for my morning banana) since starting my treatment a month & 1/2 ago. I've lost about 20 lbs. My husband is doing it with me, and he's lost about 25. We still eat a lot, we just eat more healthy food. The only thing I really feel like I miss is potatoes!

Way to go Kara ~big pat on back~!! That is awesome.

Wish I had the spirit you have. Mine comes and goes, but goes more than comes. You know what I mean?

Lazer-- It is there, just need to muster it up. I think Kara has some great ideas. But if it is not in your head (as I know all to well), you have already set yourself up to fail. Wish there was a pill I could take for the "mental attitude".
