I am increasingly concerned for Dr. Ted (edge of Sanibel Island) and Dr. Schaller & his family (Naples). Hurricane Charley is now a Category 4 FOUR which means winds up to 145 miles per hour. I have been incessently on the phone with Ted and he refuses to be evacuated. He claims he is all boarded up, etc. but the land his apartment is on is only 5 feet above water!!!!! He is on the 4th floor. He is the only one there. Do I need to keep saying I am NUTS with concern for him. I hope I can laugh about this tomorrow. Of course, where I am may also be in the eye of the hurricane but I am better abled to deal with it. I have not heard from James at all so hopefully they have evacuated.
I will be leaving home for shelter in about 3 hours. If I do not answer MY phone tomorrow (the lines may be out) you may be able to get an update from our friends where we plan to stay tonight (if we dont ALL blow away). His cell is 407-353-1606. Please dont call unless you just cant help yourself. We may all be without power for quite a while and he would have no way to recharge his phone. We may need it for emergency. Many of our phone lines are buried so may be affected by water.
Again, we are being rushed to hurry up and get situated soon so this will be my last message to you all until after the hurricane. Pray for us all.
I love all of you!!!!!
Lovey

I didn't realize that Dr. Ted was on Sanibel Island....OH, that is not good.
As of a couple of hours ago, Tincup reported that he planned to "ride it out"...I really hope he changed his mind and was one of the last ones off the island. The bridges will be closed and if he has an emergency, they would not be able to get to him.
Also, hope things go well with you...read Tincup's post on the hurricane.
Good luck and with it now being a Cat 4, you and all the western and central Florida are going to need it. I've seen the damage that a 4 does and it's not a pretty site.
Lost a good friend who decided to stay with his boat during a 4 and he is not here today because of that decision. NO property is worth a life lost!!!

If you're on the east coast, better batten down the hatches. You never know what to expect when hurricanes occur.
Look what Maryland experienced last year!!
South Carolina has been pretty lucky since Hugo hit in Sept 1989. Looks like "Charley" could be pretty rough on our coast when it makes landfall the 2nd time.
Will be praying for all those in the path of this storm, especially all the LymeNet people.
Please check in as you are able so we'll know you're OK.
