Around noon today I got a call from Dr. J's office that I tested positive for Lyme. My other blood work hasn't come in yet. Go back up on the 16th to discuss treatment options. Tweaked out for awhile and didn't know how to react after that. Emotional numbness set in and then I decided to journal briefly.

Am relatively new to Lymenet. Started looking around on the net after reading a chapter of one of Amy Tan's novels in which she stated that she had a test called a Western Blot. I was tested with just a standard ELISA back in Feb. 2003 after I had severe hypertension, double vision and headaches. Have declined pretty rapidly then my sister told me about this Western Blot. I thought Lyme was ruled out for me but I kept having these episodes of mass confusion and getting waaaayyyyy lost!!! Ms. Tan mentions this in her book.

This website and an acquaintance led me to Dr. J which I'm grateful for. Now I know I'm not crazy and all this crap that's been going on for 3-4 years is not just in my head.

I know my journey is just starting and most of you have alot of experience in dealing with this illness. I'm looking forward to the warmth and friendship I've seen exhibited on this site.

Welcome, ak! I remember well the range of emotions I felt when first being dxd! Just hang in there! We'll be there for ya!

Which book of Amy Tan's talks about the Lyme? She's a member here too! So you're "home" for sure!

Here's that hug you've been needing all day!

Hey there...

Welcome to Lyme Net!

I am warm and fuzzy... just what you are looking for!

Or did you say you were looking warm and for "friendly"?

I am happy to see you post here and hope you will join in any old time.

Dr. Jones... bless his heart.. is a magnificent piece of work... isn't he?

And, no... you aren't crazy.

Well... maybe kinda crazy... but you also have an infectious disease that makes you feel crazy sometimes.

I am sooooo glad to hear you read Amy Tan's book.

When you get time.. please let me know what it is about! I told her I was going to read it.. but alas.. I have not taken time to get down to it yet.

And don't be telling her I haven't read it! OK?

I wouldn't want her to think I don't appreciate all she does to help us... not at all. But if you could slip in a line or two on what it is about... maybe I won't sound so confounded stupid if I run into her again...

hehehe

OK.. another thing I must mention...

Some of the folks here.. well.. they are kinda weird.

We've got a girl who lives in a Cave.

And a fellow who thinks he is a dog.

And a guy who thinks he is a tree... and another one who thinks he is a fish (trout).

And worst of all.. we have a girl who runs around here dropping her drawers for the whole world to see!!!

There are some other strange ones.. but you will see we still love them all.. and we care about each other.

Let us know how we can help you.. and also feel free to help out the others with their questions.

I hope you are feeling better soon! Little baboon!

PS-

No, I am NOT crazy...

Well... maybe a little! HA!

Thanks for making me feel welcome!!

I can't remember the name of Amy's book....what else is new?? But what I do remember is that it was about her life and her relationship with her mother. I'll get that title from my sister Lymetoo.

Tincup, thanks for making me laugh. Needed it!!

If somehow it can go thru the grapevine to Ms. Tan let her know that she helped me to find out that I have Lyme too. My sister was very persuasive about pursuing the issue.
Of course that might have something to do with her unfortunate experience of being a passenger in the car with me while I was driving in Jacksonville FL and got lost. She being the directional challenged individual that she is barely managed to handle the situation. My memory loss from that is astounding so I can only relate bits and pieces and she fills in the rest for me, which could be a bad thing........

WELCOME, WELCOME!!!!

glad you found this site. this is the greatest group of sick people you will ever find.

never to sick to share a kind word to another sickie.

i see two of my favorite lymies have already greeted you, they are especially great.
shhh, don;t let them know i said that though.

believe me, we all understand the range of emotions you are feeling at this moment, so anytime you have questions, and there will be many, just ask.

you will be pleasantly surprised at just how many people can honestly relate, and actually share GOOD advise, or just a GREAT shoulder to lean on.

again, welcome!

Welcome

You have aligned your self with a group of people who in one word are WONDERFUL!!!

They have been so helpful to me and my son in law who has this disease. They directed us to the best doctor (I think ) who COULD help my son in law if my son in law wanted to help him self. He is so angry that his health was taken from him..

So my advice to you is to stay positive and research and learn as much about this disease as possible and do exactly what your doctor tells you to do and MORE!!

Joan

WELCOME To LYMENET

Here's more goodys! A typical response to newcomers.

Hi and WELCOME! Get a LLMD or at least Dr that is willing to learn about lyme. Borrelia Burgdorferi is a clinical diagnosis, based on symptoms and on your response to treatment. Good Luck, bumpy road ahead.

Post for a LLMD in Seeking a Doctor. Ps remember I am not a Dr, just a fellow sufferer.
