Ok, this is getting SERIOUS... well more serious.

It has been reported for days that National Guard troops from several states are being deployed to FL along with aircraft.

Now it is being reported that NATO troops are being deployed... 6500...

Please keep our friends in FL in your prayers, meditations, intentions...for their safety.

Its pretty far away, so, im not EVEN going to start thinking about it till thursday LOL.

We missed the big stuff from frances. But, the weather was pretty ugly the last two days. The trees took the most hit down here in Miami. I think everyone one got part of the storm.

Jordan,

So glad you did not have problems with Frances, but keep your eye on Ivan.

I know, you don't want to think about it, but this storm went from TS status to hurricane status in 12 hours. That is very unusual.

Dr. Ted, you keep your eye on Ivan, also.

Be safe...

Maggie

The latest track of Ivan the Terrible, is to enter the Gulf without a direct hit on Florida. But it is so big, (the eye itself is 20 miles across), the East coast of Florida is sure, in my opinion, sometimes correct, the outer bands of Ivan will be capable of drenching us again. Ted, still in his nest.

I keep worrying about Floridians. I remember Lovey used to live there and my neighbors kids/grandkids are there as are many of my fellow Lymies.

I hope it doesn't come after ya'll - we have a spare room and a pasture for livestock if you need to flee!!!

People down here who put up shutters are leaving them up. Its very strange down here right now. Plus, it keeps raining!!! Enough already. Not that i go outside too much.

It should be interesting. I feel bad for whoever it hits.

We were lucky with Frances, but many are still without power.

Ok, I will take responsibility for these rare huge hurricanes in Florida. We moved here less than 3 months ago, have already been hit twice, and now another on the way. Until we got here, there hadn't been a storm like this, at least not in the SW area. Snow is starting to look pretty good these days, this is just too scary.

Ihm312...wow that was a welcome...nothing like living thru one of these and then the next day or the next...how many and whatever it takes...I did 14 days with out power and living on the deck and with a cooler.At least I had that.

IVAN go AWAY!!! Tree thanks..I've been watching these tracks and these 3 storms together have been crazy!!!

Watched a special on Hurricane HAZEL last night...what a path she had...was going west and then...wam..turned north and went straight up into the east coast ...clear into NY.

I hate Hurricane season and this one has been one of the worst in a long time!

Take care FLA> More help is on the way!!!

Joan,

Good to see you.

Crazy isint it?

Life in Miami is upside down right now. People are really scared of this one.

I havent been able to see my LLMD first because of Frances and now, HE cancelled all appointments for some reason. Doctors are very hard to see at this point.

Also, i couldnt see my dentist in West Palm Beach because of the Frances.

Its hard to be sick with hurricanes coming all the time and trying to keep an appointment.

With our holidays coming up next week, its a zoo here. I cant see my LLMD until the 21st.

It is getting a little frustrating.

I am going to add my two cents to this post.

Tincup had been very emphatic so now I am going to also.

Ivan is nothing to "wait and see"...

I have friends who are watching the models carefully and some who survived Charley and they are all very concerned.

This is one of those times when you need to really do what ya gotta do AND GET OUTTA THERE!

Dr. Ted has already spoken to us about the fear factor... I am not promoting fear... just safety.

In this instance I think you need to go if you are even remotely where Ivan may make landfall.

Whew! I have been tracking Ivan since before France had completed her hurricane status and this is an unusual storm and a powerful storm. We don't want to take any chances with this one.

Love, Peace and Safety,

Maggie

Last I heard this storm had already killed 20 people.. and they are still searching for bodies and counting.

My son just called. He is stationed in south Florida.

He was transferred there a month ago... and has been doing LOTS of heavy duty recovery work since the storms came through, in awful conditions.

He was just told tomorrow morning his "crew" is being sent to a motel in Naples, along the southern Gulf coast in Florida, to ride out the storm.

Right smack dab in the path of the hurricane.

There is no where else they can go.

I am fit to be tied.

He is required to stay.

The others here aren't.

No home or no property is worth putting your life in danger.

Please leave the state now... while you still can.

Tincup,

I can only imagine how you are feeling about your son being sent to Naples at this time. I agree that that is not the best place to be as Ivan makes landfall.

We believe that angels of Love & Light will surround him and Creator God will protect him.

I also agree that those who are not assigned and forbidden to leave the area need to evacuate.

My sources who have been keeping me posted have evacuated and currently the models that I am seeing show two scenarios and the following projections for Hurricane Ivan:

Quote

"The exact track of Hurricane Ivan will make a huge difference as to the level of impact the storm has on Florida. If Ivan hugs the west coast of Florida, the eye of the storm would cause catastrophic damage from Fort Meyers northward to Cedar Key, and most of eastern Florida would escape the worst of Ivan.

If Ivan makes landfall near the same place as Charley, then the eye of the storm would cause catastrophic damage from Key Largo to just south of Tampa, and a good portion of central and eastern Florida would sustain some damage. With the second option, most of northern Florida would escape the worst of Ivan.

end quote

click on link below for diagrams:
http://hurricane.accuweather.com/adcbin/public/headlines.asp?iws=0

As Dr. Ted said in his post it is difficult if one does not have a destination out of the state and also the traffic while attempting to evacuate is difficult...

It sounds as if he is in a sound structure.

We also know from Charley that persons in wooden structures and mobile homes and buildings under code need to make a move to evacuate.

Love, Peace and Safety,

Magdalena

P.S. All Floridians and those in the southeastern U.S. and the islands are in our prayers and intentions.

Thanks for your kind and comforting words.

I am trying to keep occupied so it doesn't weigh too heavy on my mind... but that is hard to do.

````````````````````````````````
Last report..
After the first island landfall...
20 ft. storm surge
28 dead, still counting
90 percent of the buidings and homes on the island were damaged or destroyed
`````````````````````````````````````

Tonight it hits Jamacia... head on... with 150 mph winds.

If it were 5 mph stronger right now.. it would be classified as a Catagory 5 hurricane... meaning catastrophic damage.

``````````````````````````````````````
Keep in mind...
Not leaving Florida now is dangerous.
A hurricane is more than an "eye" and a rainy day.
It can be a 200 mile path of destruction, can be weeks to months of misery, and can kill.
To believe otherwise is kinda like believing that Lyme is only a tick bite and a swollen knee.
I repeat.. please get out NOW!
I'm staying put as I did for the other 2 nasty breezes. Where do those people evacuating think they will find a safe place?
The McNeil projection is that it will be some way off the Gulf coast, see what the other hurricanes have done as regards damage, and feel sorry for us and turn left.
I think I have done all the preparations I can think of, even more than I did for the previous hurricanes, but I've searched the place and can't find my lifebelt or my parachute. Good luck to all.
Just checking in...go to that safe place inside and be comforted.
Hugs,
Dr. Ted,
You are a trooper and I have to say that I admire your spunk! Just remember that those of us on the outside looking in are seeing things from a different perspective...
Also remember that we CARE... just want you to know that!
IVAN UPDATE
FL- AL- GA
Quote
"Hurricane Ivan devastated Jamaica late Friday night, and is expected to make a northwestward turn, moving through western Cuba later this weekend, then toward Florida early this week.
That being said, everyone in Florida into southern Georgia and Alabama is at risk to feel the impacts of Ivan early this week, followed by areas farther up in the Southeast.
The highest risk to lives and property is along the western coast of Florida and into the panhandle, where Ivan is expected to make landfall later Tuesday or Tuesday night."
Ziggy, thanks for the update! My satellite is down and I can't get the reports. My brother lives in Orlando, and I would say is pretty safe from this one. They lost power for quite awhile from the other two storms, but they are doing fine.
Tincup, I'm sorry to hear that your son is in the line of fire. I'll help you pray for his safety!
Ted is right about the traffic and the safe place to go....but I would go anyway unless my house was high, dry and built like a tank. Even then, I'd be wanting out of there! Been there, done that with hurricanes!
Everybody:
PLEASE take extra care.
Personal safety 1st Property 2nd.
To date, our family has lost (due to hurricanes):
2 Houses (very solid construction)
1 Boat
1 Pet
0 People
Sometimes the best thing to do is take every precaution, genuflect and get out of Dodge.
TC, I'm so worried about your son; he really is on the front-line. You are foremost in my thoughts.
I agree with previous posters; if it isn't your job, this is no time to test your luck.
Extra prayers for everybody. My parents, too (although I think they are out of the path this time).
love and prayers,
andie
Latest report..
Ivan is a "strong catagory 5 hurricane" now...
Winds clocked by hurricane planes as being 215 miles per hour in some spots.
Sustained wind speed- 155 mph.
It is the 6th worst hurricane in the Atlantic region EVER!
``````````````````````````````````````````

Latest news from areas already hit by Ivan...

50 reported dead, still counting.

9 out of every 10 buildings damaged or destroyed.

Mud slides, floods, fires.

Some areas have no food, no water, no medical assistance, and people are lined up begging for help, and wanting to leave.

And this is just the beginning of the nightmare.

IVAN UPDATE:

Check out these links for IVAN update and other storms developing in the Atlantic.

Here is the Navy's forecasts for Ivan:
http://www.nrlmry.navy.mil/tc_pages/04_ATL_09L.IVAN_ssmi_gif_full.html

http://hurricane.accuweather.com/adcbin/hurricane/ocean.asp?ocean=atlantic#discussion

IVAN has been an enigma for many! There is MUCH speculation now as to where IVAN will make landfall and with what degree of force.

It is anyone's guess at this point, but the entire GULF COAST from the FL panhandle to TX feels vulnerable right now.

Also, Tampa area still remains a possibility if it takes an eastern turn once in the Gulf.

Keep your eye on Ivan and don't forget there are others developing out there. This is an intense time for those in coastal regions.

Peace and Safety,

Maggie

Even though projections are for the Gulf Coast some are emphasizing that Ivan will head for central FL....

If this is true there are many in central FL who may be looking to the Gulf Coast and feeling no threat from Ivan.

Just to be on the safe side CENTRAL FL please take precautions and don't let your guard down!

Blessings,

Maggie

Gulf Coast US is being evacuated for an anticipated Category 3 or 4 hit although some still predict Ivan will turn east into the CENTRAL FL region...

"At 11:00 AM EDT this morning, Ivan was centered at 23.4 north, 86.2 west, or about 435 miles south-southeast of the mouth of the Mississippi River. Maximum sustained winds are now 140 mph, making it a category 4 hurricane. The central pressure reported by an Air Force Reserve unit aircraft was 932 millibars (27.52 inches). Ivan is moving toward the north-northwest at 8 mph. A hurricane warning remains in effect for western Cuba, including the Isle of Youth, and a tropical storm warning is in effect for the northeastern Yucatan. A tropical storm watch is in effect for the Florida Keys from the Seven Mile Bridge westward, including the Dry Tortugas. A hurricane watch is in effect for the Gulf coast of the U.S. from east of Morgan City, Louisiana to St. Marks, Florida, including the city of New Orleans.

Ivan will more than likely undergo fluctuations in the next day or so, but it will likely be a major hurricane upon landfall. We project landfall tomorrow night or Thursday morning between the mouth of the Mississippi River and Panama City, Florida, as a strong category 3 or a category 4 hurricane."

Thanks for the updates.. and yes.. you are right.

No one let their guard down yet. PLEASE!

It was interesting to see the panhandle folks were out of there as soon as they even thought it might hit there.

They KNOW hurricanes.. and the beaches and towns were completely empty!

Last report...

Over 80 people have died due to the hurricane.

So sad considering there was so much warning.

And in this day and age.. this shouldn't happen.

Please keep the people on the Gulf Coast and in the FL Panhandle in your prayers and intentions.

This region has been hit hard. Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, AL and Perdido Key, FL, Inneriaty Point and West Pensacola were hit the hardest. Pensacola Beach and Navarre Beach have all been hit very hard.

All four hospitals in P'cola were damaged and two shelters.

Dozens are reported missing and families of those missing need our prayers and support even from a distance.

For updates in Pensacola and the surrounding areas check

LA, MS, AL, GA, the Carolinas, TN and West VA have all felt the effects of Ivan.

Did any of you experience Ivan?

Are you having any unusual symptoms???

Have you seen changes in your energy level before or since Ivan?

I know a lot of folks are experiencing depression and PTSD. Just want to know if you have any thoughts about any of this.
