HELP! I AM LOOKING OVER ALL THESE TOPICS AND I AM CONFUSED. SINCE I WAS JUST RECENTLY DIAGNOSED, I DO NOT KNOW MUCH? I AM READING ABOUT ALL THESE INJECTIONS, AND OTHER THINGS THAT I DO NOT UNDERSTAND. IS EVERYONE GOING TO NEED INJECTIONS? MY LAD RESULTS WERE TESTED POSITIVE AT QUEST AND A NURSE TOLD ME THAT IS UNCOMMEN BECAUSE IT IS USUALLY NOT SENSITIVE ENOUGH. DOES THIS MEAN I HAVE IT BAD? I DON'T UNDERSTAND........

Nah Ive been getting treated for lyme with oral abx's. High doses though. Here dont panic some good links for reading.

WELCOME To LYMENET

Here's more goodys! A typical response to newcomers.

Hi and WELCOME! Get a LLMD or at least Dr that is willing to learn about lyme. Borrelia Burgdorferi is a clinical diagnosis, based on symptoms and on your response to treatment. Good Luck, bumpy road ahead.

Post for a LLMD in Seeking a Doctor. Ps remember I am not a Dr, just a fellow sufferer.

Hi and Welcome to Lymenet.

Since all of the above post is very hard to bookmark, Tincup has provided all that informationin in one post so you don't have to keep refering back, or whatever. It is all in one link and you'll be able to see what other's have added to the list also.

Here's that link:

We are very glad that you have found us, but, please do us a favor, ALL CAPS is considered shouting throughout any internet community and I know that you aren't really doing that.

Also, when posting any long blocks of text, please hit the Enter Key, TWICE, where a paragraph would be. There are so many of us, due to our disease, that have trouble reading large blocks without "white" space.

thanks

Not everyone and not every Lyme Literate Medical Doctor (LLMD) give or even believes in giving IV therapy and not everyone does shots.

If you got a positive test, even from Quest, rest assured that you more than likely have Lyme Disease (LD).

The absolute best advice I can give you is to seek out a real LLMD, a doctor that not only just says he knows how to treat LD, but a doctor who has the experience and knowledge to treat this most complicated disease.

Tell us a little about yourself, Milli. Like were you just infected? Or, have you had it and been searching for just what you have? Are you being treated?

You can go over to Seeking a Doctor Forum and post there for a doctor, hopefully, in your area. But, be forwarned, LLMDs are few and sometimes very, very far between.

The vast majority of us have to travel great distances to get to a doctor who knows how to treat this disease. Most do not take insurance, but, will file for you, for they do NOT want to be tied to the insurance in the treatment that they will deliver.

Again, your very best bet is to really read those links and you'll have a much better understanding of the current situation that you are in with your health.

Rosemary

Oh, and let us know when you see you post by just clicking that Post Reply button that is found at the top AND the bottom of this page you are now reading. You have found the right place for learning the truths about this disease.

Milli, their is no test that can tell you how long you have had LD. If you remember the tick bite or by chance had the bulls-eye rash, you might have a clue, but, there is not test to tell you just how long you have had it.

Is the doctor you found a member of ILADS? There aren't but a few, very few, like probably less than a handful of real LLMDs in Texas. It's very important to be seen by someone who is knowledgeable, and not just says that they treat LD. There is a difference, bid difference.

You probably do not want to see a doctor who takes insurance, the vast majority of LLMD do not. The reason is, is that if they take insurance, then they are linked to the insurance companies approved protocols for this disease. And, to be able to treat you agressively as you would need to be, then they are not tied to what the insurance companies say that they have to do.

But, the good news is, many do file for you and your company may approve, or not, and you get the money that way. But, all the ones I know, take money up-front.

Rosemary

BTW, most of those links, were put together for new persons to lyme and are "matter of fact." The best information you can get anywhere on Lyme Disease.

I hope that helps.
