Hello everyone. I really need some advice.

I have been sick for 3+ years. It started with blurry vision and dizzyness off and on and fatigue.

Then about 3 months ago I started getting all kinds of things. I could not think anymore, I have a hard time finding words to what I want to say.

I am extremely forgetfull. My hands hurt! I ache everywhere, I have headaches, a strange burning sensation on my face and neck and now I have been blessed with muscle twitches. Yeah!!

I have been tested and it shows I have lyme but it is showing it is not active. But because of all of my symptoms the infectious disease doctor wants to treat me with doxyc..for 3 weeks.

If I don't respond to treatment then they will say it was a false positive and look for other answers.

My fear is that I know I have had this a long time and that sometimes only 3 weeks of treatment will not "cure" it. I am affraid that if I don't respond to the treatment they will write me off.

Any help and advice would be helpfull. I have been through the mill of tests for MS etc and I just want to be better. I want my life back. Thanks for listening..

Hi Merrie,

Welcome to LymeNet. I am glad you have found this resource! It takes some time to read all of the information here, but you will be greatly helped if you do.

You Doctor is wrong. Period. There is no such thing as "inactive" Lyme Disease. Your current symptoms are evidence of the active infection.

I live in the Twin Cities area. Unfortunately, there is no LLMD in our area, which is a hot zone!

Please go to:
http://www.drcharlescrist.com/

He is my Lyme Literate Medical Doctor and helps many from our state. The drive is about 7 hours one way. This is a small price for such a great doctor. He is one of the top LLMD's in the country.

You can cure this disease with the right care and treatment program. Good luck to you.

Keep on, keepin' on

-Lyme Wolf

Thanks Lyme Wolf for the info.

I guess I will go on the 3 weeks of antibiotics and hope they help. If in the end they don't work I will seek additional help.

My husband will probably not be to keen on the idea of me going out of state to find a doctor.

Plus I doubt that the doctor is in my insurances network. So I would probably have to pay out of my pocket and I don't have a lot of extra cash if you know what I mean.

But if my current doctor will not help me then I will have no choice but to go out of state for help. I will do whatever it takes to feel better.

Please pray that these antibiotics help! I can't take this much longer. Thanks again!!

The main thing here...there is NO test that can say you have been infected but the Lyme is not "active". No test.

Hey there...

Welcome to Lyme Net!

I agree with the others before me here.

You said...

"I have been tested and it shows I have lyme but it is showing it is not active. But because of all of my symptoms the infectious disease doctor wants to treat me with doxyc..for 3 weeks."

Well isn't he the biggest hog tied idiot I have heard about all day!

Actually all week!

But ain't they all!

Having Lyme symptoms and having a positive test for Lyme.. GEEZE.. what does he think that means?

You have a wart on your toe?

You were hit by a bus?

You have dirty diapers?

HELLO DR DOPE! Wake up and get with the program!!!

Do you know why he is an Infectious Disease IDIOT?

Do you know why he went into THAT field instead of another area of medicine?

Because if he used that theory.. that positive Lyme tests and having Lyme symptoms don't mean Lyme...

On pregnant women...

Nine months later he would feel pretty stupid when the baby pops out and punches him right in the nose!

I am so sorry you don't feel well.. but your IDIOT doctor is totally wrong.. and you can tell him I said so.

Before he writes YOU off.. and that is a concern of yours, you said, right?

Well do yourself a favor...

WRITE HIM OFF!

Tell him to take a long walk off a short pier... and get the heck away from him.

If he were anywhere CLOSE to being right..

NONE of us would be here today.

We would ALL be cured... not passed by on an original diagnosis.. and not suffering or watching our precious children suffer.

Don't feed the wicked man.

Find another doc who knows what they are doing. ASAP.

You said...

"I guess I will go on the 3 weeks of antibiotics and hope they help. If in the end they don't work I will seek additional help."

The longer you wait to be properly treated.. the more the infections will spread through your body...

And the harder it will be to "fix" you..

And the more expensive it will be..

And the more time you will waste being ill.

The choice is yours to make.

You said..

"My husband will probably not be to keen on the idea of me going out of state to find a doctor."

Now..

I am already in a lousey mood after hearing what that IDIOT duck said to you...

I need to be careful here.

Ok..

If your husband was ill and wanted to go to a specific doctor for help...

Would you not approve?

Would you deny him the chance to get well?

OK.. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr....

I can't shut my big mouth...

DON'T let anyone make your health care decissions for you! PLEASE!

I mean... isn't there an amendment for that sort of thing?

Like in the Constitution?

Freedom of deciding what is best for your own self instead of being dictated to by someone who doesn't know what they are talking about?

Or was in in the marriage vows?

For better or for worse.. for sicker or poorer?

Ok... I am sorry.

I just don't want you to be laying in bed.. a mental institute.. in a nursing home... or a hospital...

Or worse yet.. 6 feet under..

Because you listened to bad advise.

If you are gonna mess up... do it on your own at least.

Like I do!

HA!

Whatever you decide.. please know I am NOT ruffled at you...

I am bent out of shape at those who won't do what is RIGHT!

And I don't want you to get worse while filly fallyee-ing around waiting for THEM to run your life.

OK?

Let us know how we can help you.

We will do our best.

And we are free!

I hope you feel better soon.

Not to scare ya but 3 weeks of orals after 3 years of lymes will almost NEVER cure lyme, ive yet to hear of it anyway.

Take it from me, I thought I could wait to get treatment from a knowledgable doc and my symptoms, which started out similar to most of yours, all of the sudden have taken a serious turn for the worst.

You think your sick now? If you take too short of course of meds and wait around for that duck to tell you what "he/she" thinks is wrong with you,you may seriously regret the wasted time.

Get help by some one knoweledgabe an LLMD. I know money can be an issue, believe me we have a total of 8 kids being supported on one income, but it IS an absolutely nessasary sacrifice you will have to find a way to make.

I seriously regret i didnt seek help sooner, now i am bed ridden most days and have really scary neuro symptoms.

Also for Some people the longer they
wait to treat the higher the germ load and are likely to experience more pain physical and mental anguish from the die off of the bacteria...herx reactions.

Like some one mentioned above, if you have all the symptoms of pregnancy, missed period, nausea, positive blood test for pregnancy YOUR PREGNANT. This is one baby you DO NOT want to carry to term. Seek help ASAP.

believe3,

I live in Woodbury, MN and my 2 sons have chronic Lyme and co-infections.

We also travel to Dr. C in Missouri. Lyme Wolf must drive really fast because it is 620 miles from Woodbury!

I have seen a lot of new posters from Minnesota in the past few months. My husband referred a co-worker to Dr. C today.

WELCOME To LYMENET

Here's more goodys! A typical response to newcomers.

Hi and WELCOME! Get a LLMD or at least Dr that is willing to learn about lyme. Borrelia Burgdorferi is a clinical diagnosis, based on symptoms and on your response to treatment. Good Luck, bumpy road ahead.

Post for a LLMD in Seeking a Doctor. Ps remember I am not a Dr, just a fellow sufferer.

I want to thank you all for your wonderfull advice.

I feel so much better just knowing that there is help out there for me.

I have felt so ungodly alone for so long and I finally have an answer and am no longer in limbo land trying to figgure out what is wrong with me.

Now that I know what I am fighting it's time to put on the boxing gloves. I will call Dr. C and see if I can make an appt. I am sure it will be a few months before he could see me.

I talked to my husband and he would definately go to another state to find a doctor to help me. He has been a lot more understanding now that there is a name for my ailments.

Thanks again, to you all!! Wish me luck!!
