When I was on Accutane, I could not get it unless I gave consent for the manufacturer to do follow-ups with me about it. I wish I had never taken the stuff. I had reactions to it (not mental, but bad anyway). The manufacturer only did one follow-up, before I had the reactions. I usually don't like the government interferring with such things, but this is a dangerous drug and follow-up NEEDS to be done, in my opinion.

I believe if a drug is so dangerous that the patients need to be followed, then the drug should be removed from the market.

I agree. I feel like I was very misled about this drug. The initial follow-up agreement was presented as a way for them to make sure my doctor was doing appropriate tests (mostly pregnancy because of the deformed babies if you get pregnant), and if the medicine was working or me. None of the dangers of this drug were explained to me except for the pregnancy, which I knew I would not have to worry about. I have a feeling they knew how dangerous this drug could be and did not properly inform the patients. I think it should have been taken off the market a long time ago.
