The doctor I am going to now is nice but I don't know if the Dr. is Lyme literate.

I have been BEGGING my parents for a while to take me to Dr.Jones but so far they haven't.

They won't look at any of the articles online that I try to show them.

Does anyone have advise on what I should do?

If you don't live near dr. J, maybe you can find an llmd closer to you that your parents will be more receptive to. You can go to the "Seeking Doctor" section for help.

My 15 year is treated by the same llmd as I. Both of us are making progress.

Are you going to school this year? I remember you said you had been away but had to come home because you were sick. We found a cyber school for my son. So far so good, hh is getting the sleep he needs and can work at his own speed. Maybe something like this will work for you.

Of course they have a field trip to Valley Forge Park, a known tick haven soon. I can't win them all. I'll just DEET him up.

Rest and Get well.

How old are you?

Where do you live?
That may give a good indication of how Lyme literate your dr is.

Since your parents don't seem to be interested in learning about Lyme disease, then you could try working with your dr.

go to www.ilads.org/burrascano_1102.htm
Print "Diag Hints & Treat Guidelines..." for your dr - 32 pages of excellent info written by one of the best LLMDs.
Highlight some of the main points, like Co-Infections, Antibiotic Choices & Treatment Categories.

Print "ILADS Lyme Disease Treatment Guidelines Summary" (this is not Dr B's)
4 pages of info everyone should read!! www.ilads.org/guidelines_summary.htm

Organize the info about your symptoms with the worst 3 listed first & a list of significant dates, like tick bite, bull's eye rash, symptoms, changes in your health, etc - if you remember them.

Kinda like building a case for court.
You've got to have enough evidence to convince your dr you have Lyme and/or co-infections.

See if your dr will read all the info you take him & then consult by phone with Dr Charles Ray Jones in New Haven, CT.
Phone: 203 - 772 - 1123 (he's given permission to post this info.)

This is a start.
Maybe someone else will have more suggestions.
