I was given 500 mg erythromyacin filmtabs to take twice a day for possible bronchitis. I herx bad on an extremely low dose of doxy, so i am afraid to take the erythromyacin, but also afraid of being so sick.

What reactions have any of you had to this med? Have you cut the pill in half? Any help would be great.

erythromycin is bacterial static not bacterial cidal which means it only stops the growth of bacteria not actually kills the bacteria. http://www.scienceblog.com/community/article4415.html
erythro film tabs if enteric coated for the stomach should not be broken. they are not a very strong abx since it is static instead of cidal ie keflex,penicillin.
