i'm wondering,
for those on a longterm antibiotic protocol, how do you keep your system balanced? how do you keep candida in check?

I took Diflucan 2-3 times a week along with the abx. This really seemed to help. Most people try to follow a strict yeast-free diet or take supplements.

I have always taken acidophilus just as faithfully as I've taken my antibiotics(abx).

It's not what most recommend, but my acidoph was in a capsule & did not have to be refrigerated. The lady at my Health Food Store called it Traveler's Acidophilus.

The brand I took was Kyo-Dophilus
The capsules contain 1.5 Billion Live Cells -
L.Acidophilus, B.Bifidum, B.longum

"the optimum friendly bacteria...specially cultured human strains are carefully processed to retain viability at room temperature, insuring adequate numbers for implantation in the intestine."

The bottle says 2/day, but I took two capsules with each meal, unless antibiotic was taken with meals. Then I'd plan a snack between meals for acidoph.

Also, I planned it so the acidoph was after the last abx for the day.
I felt like this gave the acidoph all night to help me before I took more meds the next morning.

Be sure to have 2 hours between abx & acidoph - before & after - or it won't be able to work.

I ate a sensible, nutritious diet, but did not go overboard on watching what I ate.

This worked for me.
In 10 yrs of treatment for Lyme, Babesiosis, & Bartonella, I've had to take Diflucan only 2 or 3 times.

Hi,I take grapefruit seed extract, 14 drops twice a day. You can put it in any liquid you want. It kills the yeast DEAD. MADDOG

heiwalove, me tinks that you'd get a lot of good out of studying the following post.

If you haven't taken a look at it, then, I highly suggest that you do. I think you'll want to even bookmark it for further studying.
