While watching the NBC Today show, Al said "What is the best thing that happened to you today?"

That triggered this post. I have been fighting the blues or thinking that just maybe things are not going to change/improve so I thought I would start this post to chase the blues/blah's away.

Since today is not over with yet, I will post what happened yesterday.

The best thing that happened yesterday was my health was a little bit stronger in the am and I was able to do a little, rest and then do a little bit more.

The NP visited yesterday. I told her about the story that was going to be on NBC Today this week about a person fighting lyme for 7 and half years and has a normal life now.

The best thing that happened yesterday was that she said something to the affect that I too will be well enough that I will be telling my story too to many others.

Now, that I am back to being very low functioning this am, her words help give me hope. Hope is good.

My daughter-in-law phoned to ask me if I needed her to get me anything.

I went totally blank! Now sitting here with pen and paper and can't come up with anything. Lyme brain-dead.

I have to phone her back in about a 1/2 hour with my 'list'....

She's so sweet. Also, she's the mother of my first and only grandchild 4 mos old.

So I guess the best thing happened to me today is she and baby Aiden are coming over!

Is there anything finer?

Great post! We used to play this with our kids when they were younger.

The best thing to happen to me yesterday was getting my son's senior pictures and seeing him proudly hang his on the wall with his two older sisters.

He is the baby so I told my husband that I am officially 'done.' It has been an amazing blessing to watch them grow and become independent.

The best thing that happened to me today was hearing that "Aaron & Kaitlin are almost Lyme Free!"

I just love success stories, especially when it's about children fighting this disease & winning!!

Have to Edit to add that ebbyban has such wonderful news, too!!
Doing great healthwise & having a baby, too.

Some days it is hard to come up with the "best" thing.. when things are not so hot.

But I found one!

The birds are back.

During the months of September and October there were NO birds in the bird feeder. Since I can't have real pets.. this one pleasure... watching the birds... means a lot to me.

Today I counted 16 birds at one time at the feeders.

I was so excited I put out two new wicker-like baskets filled with seed. I bought the baskets in the 25 cent bin at the Good Will... and the seed from an organization that was selling seed to raise money for purchasing land to preserve it.

I am hoping tomorrow the birds know they are "home" and will decide to stay for the winter and keep me company.

The best thing that happened to me today was to hear that the PA Bill on lyme passed and that Wendy in the UK was approved for treatment.

I haven't read the post about the two children that are doing so much better. That sounds like one worth reading too!

TC. I too enjoy the birds and miss them when they are not at the feeder. I also like waking up to them singing but haven't had a home in a long time that has this piped in.

I also am interested in the bird seed you mentioned. Do you order this via the web?

I noticed the birds around here are picky. Most of the time, they do not care for the brand that the local stores carry and I end up having to toss it.

Mary J....nope...can't think of anything finer.

Cathy....that was indeed a Kodak moment. Congratulations to both of you and all of you...tis a team effort.

I enjoyed my day with two delightful 10 year old laughing, giggly, adventurous girls!

This was my first full day ever,in such a long time.Out all day, with no nap and not feeling like I had to stop. The next few days will hopefully not be crash days?

We went to a horse show and hung around the barns, dogs, horses and friendly folks all day.

Wow,I think I am slowly regaing my life, this has been a big day for me.I am finally coming out of the dark tunnel of really intense herxing and I give thanks for that.

Mary J...I wore my Poppy too!

Good to hear recovery for the young kids with Lyme, golly so rough being a kid and then to have this.

TC, we have beautiful cardinals in the yard now. Also a big hawk, cruising and keeping a close eye on the hood.

Kam...

Sorry.. I got some of the seed a couple of months ago. A local group was selling it outside a shopping area. I took it home and put it in containers right away, so I don't even have the brand name to share right now.

I also recently found some seed at the local Southern States that looks good.. but then I am not a bird.. It has nuts, seeds of all sorts and even what looks like dried berries in it?

I don't know the brand "name" but it had, in big letters, the types of birds that it was developed for.. like one of the ones I put out today said "Chickadee's". I had cut that much off the label for the container so I knew what was in it... but I don't have more info.

SORRY!

I usually do very well with sunflower seeds. And I do have one special feeder with just black thistle seed. That is a popular one around here with the birds.

TC I find that the birds around here are picky about sunflower seeds. There is one brand that they eat and another that they let sit there until I toss them.

The other you mentioned didn't work either...to my surprised....only one brand to choose from so I don't know if it is brand thing or not.

I guess the birds around here are just not that hungry.

Mule..glad to hear you were able to plant some bulbs. What kind?

I am hoping to plant the Creeping Charlie and Pathos I have in water to root right now soon.

The best thing that happened to me today was hearing that Scott Peterson was found guilty.

It is sad, but I do believe he did it. I am glad it is looking like he will not get away with murder.

Even though it was raining all day, I took a vacation day from work, went shopping and met my mom and dad for lunch. Then, all the fun came to an end when I had to go to my sister's house for her to give me my bicillin shot! HA!

I think this is a great post. Very positive. I had this one book that I had to write down at least one thing a day I was thankful for, it really makes you think.

Today was our fall bazaar at Dominic's school. I was the craft coordinator. We have like 10 craft booths, 15 game booths and a craft store.

My mom, sister and myself made over 1000 crafts then we had about another 1000 donated by other parents.

This was my first year being second in charge I was nervous but it was great!! The kids had a blast and the school made more money this year then the last few.

But the best thing was seeing the kids "shopping" for their mom's, sisters, and brothers.

Also hearing some of the kids tell Dominic "Man your so lucky your mom does this stuff she is so cool" made his day and mine.

Starr..what a fun thing to do. I would have liked to have been there and watched the kids too.

FISH..what is the Reading? I bet it is a good feeling to learn you can do something positive towards lyme research and education.

Luvmycat...sounds like a good mental health day! (That is what we use to call them when we needed a break from work)

Kara....Turkish dancing? I can hear TC now...is that what the turkey's do while they are in line at the Turkey Farm right before Thanksgiving?

Glad the shot helped. I bet Turkish dancing is a lot of fun if you aren't a feathered bird.

I am thankful that I didnt sleep the entire day away.... at 3:49pm my kitty licked my nose and eyebrows than started meowing "mommy wake up i'm lonely" ...

then he laid down next to me with his head tucked under my chin and we watched tv.

I am so lucky to have my cat and my family.

The shot hasnt helped...I think I will be back in the office Monday!!

My fault. I didnt warm up.

But I must have danced well since 3 men asked me for my number.

One Greek followed me around saying in Greek, "Kyriaka, I really like you in that dress. I call you sometime".

Kam, I was looking for something like this posted last week that I didn't respond to at the time...lack of time!

Birds, in Iowa...we use field corn on feeding our birds, squirrels, rabbits, & chipmunks. Also cracked corn w/sunflower seeds.

When our robins came in the spring, we had a really big surprise of 3 dozen & 3-4 dozen of other birds all coming into our large back yard! I couldn't take my eyes off all the goings on.

Things happening good to me...

Last Friday night I watched a 30 min. tv report about our American soldiers who had been burned in the war. They interviewed 3 guys, and how they were each doing physically, mentally, and accepting what their bodies now looked like.

Their positive attitudes were beyond belief. 1 man was going in for his 27 surgery & had 12 more to go!

They were all 18-21. Showed 4 burnt soldiers going shopping for the 1st time to the mall for new clothes, etc.

They commented on all the stares and questions. They explained they'd been in the war and what happened to them. Then each were hugged & thanked for their lifelong, permanet reminder of having fought to preserve the freedoms we tend to take for granted now and then.

I'm happy today. It's our monthly get together of 4 female classmates; all 55. We have a potluck supper, talk about what's happening with each of us, and then watch a comedy movie with splitting our guts and hoping we make it to the bathroom before we pee from laughting too much!

Thanks for starting this thread..good nourishment for all.

Azure...it is nice to have the warmth of a cat around. And they do seem to know when we need a little nudge and some company.

Gary...what an exciting and good thing. I had not idea this was going on. Let us know when your new pom arrives.

Don...glad to hear that almost all your youngins are visiting. Let us know when they are gone and we'll send out a search party for those missing things.

Kara....I wonder what Kyriaka means? Sounds like a fun word to say.

Betty...spring times sounds great around there. The story about the soldiers is really something. And the monthly meeting sound like a great idea.

I know at least two people that I have known since kindergarten that I have kept in touch with all these years usually via email.

It would be great to do something similar with them at least twice a year. I live about 4 or 6 hours away but the two of them still live in our old stomping grounds.

You all need to pat yourselves on the back...great idea.

My daughter went out riding 4 wheelers with her sister and friends..I always worry since we don't have very much safe area in which to ride...But even though it isn't one of the things I condone or facilitate...She was alive and with others and laughing and smiling...

It has been a long time...I will pray it(well not this activity, but life) continues...

The best thing that happened to me today is that I woke up for the first time in at least 6 weeks without that head stuff. Hurray!

Lyme Mom Too...glad to hear that you daughtere was able to go out on ATV's. I use to do that in the Pismo Dunes. I had my own ATV. It was when they were 3 wheels. The 4 wheel ATV's are safer.

Fish....thanks for letting me know Reading is a town and not a fund raiser that has to do with reading.
