I just thought I'd share this with those who understand-my family doctor makes me so mad. I went to him today for a referral-he makes you come in each time it expires(he only gives me 3 months referral at a time and since I only see my LLMD every other month... well lets just say that the family MD gets to see me quite often just so I can get a piece of paper.) Despite the waste of money on these copays, that's not what makes me mad.He always talks down to me and belittles my LLMD. Today he said that the LLMD have their own little subculture with their own unsubstantiated treatment plan. That their research isn't done in a controlled manner and is not peer reviewed. Also that the LLMD's don't know anymore about Lyme than anyone else. To top it off, he said that my lab work will always be positive so I'll never have any change to indicate if I'm getting better or not. I feel so intimidated by him and it makes me afraid to stand up to him. I know that I should get a new GP but I live in a rural area with little option. My LLMD is wonderful and I hate the negative comments about a person they don't even know. I know there is no easy solution, but I just need to vent.

At your next visit... just sit there with a blank stare on your face.

When he is finished with all his quacking..

Just calmly look at him... pull out a paper and pen from your purse and jot down something as you slowly walk towards the door...

Then stop... turn towards him... and sweetly say..

"I need to write those comments down so I won't forget to put them on the complaint I'm filing with the Medical Board".

Then... with all the grace you have...

Smile a **** eating grin...

And slowly stroll out the door, without another word.

If you get the choice to sit it out or dance...
