Hello everyone
Please help me with this I don't know what to do...
Doc said to quit my job at a well known shoe store A.S.A.P. because of plastics that the shoes are made of are making me sicker...
He didn't know where I worked till I told him and he about fell in the filling drawer when I told him where I worked. I never knew the environment that I worked in was that toxic.
I have been sick since 1999 no antibiotics till 2000 Finally got meds in 2002 when I found Dr C in MO. (With the help of you all)( I Have not had internet since 2002 back online yesssssss)
When I Came home to Ill after my last visit last month, I told my boss I need to take time off to try to get better......
So she made work 7days straight (isn't that so nice...... I thought I was going to die)
Well I'm living off my saving account which I think will get me through for maybe 6weeks or so till I find another Job (My boss thinks I'm coming back to work next month ) Well What I was thinking is that I could work two- four hour shifts just to pay for my ins and that way I could have a little income each week to cover insurance which is no good anyway...or do you all think I should just stay away from there????? Please let me know your thoughts are very appreciated.
Thanks so much,
Angela

Hi Angela.
Welcome home. Glad to have you back with us.

I wasn't quite sure about the dr who told you to quit your job - was it Dr C in MO?
If it was, then I think I'd try to follow his advice.

If it was a different dr, I'd recommend you talk with Dr C & get his opinion. If he's been treating you a couple yrs, he should know your situation pretty good.

If you need the income from working part-time, then you could try working fewer hours to see if less time in that environment makes any difference in how you feel.

Only you know whether the insurance is paying enough to warrent your continuing to work there.

Are you improving on antibiotics?

In the end, you will have to decide for yourself. However, I can tell you from experience that it is very possible that the chemicals in the shoe store could be keeping you from improving.

There are a large number of toxic compounds used in shoe manufacture. The synthetic materials themselves off gas, and dyes, waterproofing, glues, and other finishes are very toxic. Even the boxes the shoes come in likely have formadehyde and solvents in the inks.

Whether or not you are sensitive to these things, I can't tell you. But they are definitely hard on the immune system.

Limiting your exposure would probably help, if you have no other choice. Is it possible that you could leave the job due to the exposure and get at least short term disability? You might check into whether the exposure causing difficulty in your treatment would qualify you.

Yes it was Dr C in Springfield Mo.
No I don't think I'm getting better on antibiotics in fact I'm getting very discouraged
I just want my old self back I'm a 28 year old woman and have become almost a shut-in I hardly go anywhere.
I used to go out all the time and stay out till 3am with friends now I'm usually in bed no later then 10pm. I can't do the things I used to do.
