I've written at times about my private war against two HMOs. One finally paid, after a 40-month no holds barred, hardball knock-down-drag-out street fight
I asked (nicely) for out of pocket expenses for 8 months' Lyme disease IV antibiotics. They used several 'dirty tricks' but I kept coming back.
AND THEY PAID!!! Sev thousand$!!
Perhaps it was out of the goodness of their hearts. Perhaps it was my threat of suit. Doubtless pressure applied by my senator's office (since 2/04) made a difference.
But all of a sudden the HMO admitted its undue delay (they sat on my claim for over a year AFTER I cleared a years' worth of their "hurdles") and the check WAS in the mail!!
Local paralegal calls this "miracle".
Thanks, everyone, especially those who prayed.
NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER QUIT!!

I'm sure their are many people that are going to be glad to hear that they have a chance! Congratulation for hanging tough with this 'company' ! It's really too bad we even have to use that terminology--- "hardball", "street-fight". etc. (But, from what I've seen and heard about, totally called for, lamentably!. I've found with insurance companies the squeaky wheel gets the oil. The more you hound, threaten, or whatever it takes to get your money the better your chance is of winning.
Happy New Year!
