My daughter started Ketek today. So far so good. I am a little nervous, wondering how she will handle this medicine. Anyone else hava a teen on Ketek?

Right now my son is on IV zithromax, and I can state for the record, that it is doing more Bb killing than rocephin ever did.
Though we haven't used it yet, many posters have stated very good results with ketek.

I just started this on Mon. Stuff is powerful. Does anyone else have problems with stomach upset? I am not sure if it is that, the Mepron or the Clinda. Having trouble keeping it down. Any suggestions? I normally have an iron stomach with antibiotics. But not with this combo.

my 15 y/o daughter has been on Ketek since last August.
I made sure to start very slowly and ramp her up to the full dose.
We have been pleased w/ her progress and Dr. Jones added in plaquenil during our March visit.
About day 5 she experienced a very barking cough that lasted about a week or so and one time when she hadn't been taking it (skipped about a week), the coughing started again when she resumed the dosage.
I feel that it is related. We also noticed her pupils seem more dilated since taking this medicine but, so far, vision and optic nerve are fine!!
We wish u luck! I'm about to start Ketek and Mepron for my never-ending Babs!!!

Patty7, I would be really careful about starting Ketek and Prima Una de Gato at the same time.
Cat's claw is very powerful, and if it causes side effects, you won't know if it's the abx or the cat's claw.
Both have to be started very slowly, especially the cat's claw, as in one drop a day for a while to see how it goes.
I totally agree with you about starting one thing at a time. Why then did the Dr not recommend this - I don't know.
It is so frustrating when the Dr. tells your child one thing about taking meds and you feel differently. What is the child supposed to do.
I feel this totally confuses them and does not help in the treatment. Sorry if I sound angry, but it is such a long struggle trying to get these guys well and this only makes it more difficult.
My son is on a total sleep reversal, so unfortunately I am not always awake when he is - so I have to trust what he tells me about taking his meds properly. I hope to sit down with him tonight and go over this. I want him to trust the Dr., but this means telling him to do something other that what the Dr. said.
