(another possibility might be family counseling of some kind. I heard about such a service run by a lymie, but can't remember off hand where it was. Think this would only work in person.)

Hello tick alert..Most drs are not knowledgeable about the psychiatric manifestations of lyme disease..They tend to believe it's mental illness and will give out pills like candy.
Be careful regarding the qualifications of the dr that you see..We wasted a lot of valuable time with non ll psychs.. Perhaps my daughter would not have gotten so very ill..
She is now very depressed, has OCD and has attempted suicide numerous times..Many moms on here share my horrors of this disease..But some might be too busy battling to post..
No one protocol works for every child..It is experimental..You also might want to investigate Bartonella.Good luck..
ps. Lou thanks for all that you have done to keep lymenet going and now all that you continue to do for us.

lymemom2 - thanks. I think you might have me confused with the former moderator of lymenet, Lou Bachman. He posted here as Lou B. I am plain lou. He was father of a lymie. I am a lymie.
So sorry about your daughter. Hope things turn around before long. Guess you read lisa/smiley's story. Her daughter was in similar shape and is now doing well. Keeping my fingers crossed for you all.

My kids do have lyme and one has a genetic disorder but either way the psychologist/therapist they see has been immenseley(sp?) helpful just to give them an outlet to talk about anything they want to and not worry about upsetting mom or dad.
As for LL Psychiatrist, what a great idea, I believe I should do that too!
Good luck, I know its a hard battle, but the kids are young enough, it can be won.
sorry to hear your little girl is struggling. each story breaks my heart.
i'm a mom of 2 boys with lyme. both have a multitude of problems. I am at the drs. offices 3x/week for them or me.
My 10 yr. old started having problems when he was 7. He had a major depression that seemed to just hit out of the blue. I took to see several people. He seemed stable until this year.
All of a sudden he went from being ADD to ADHD and a another depression hit. He also became obsessive compulsive and an insomniac.
I decided to switch drs. and we have made some progress. We have had to switch meds so much. Right now we are focusing on a med for sleeping. Next we will focus on his ADHD med. I have brought lyme info. to this dr. and have begun to educate him on the disease. I have also told him to watch for more children with these kind of symptoms because they may have lyme.
We also go to a really great psychotherapist and this is definately helping him. This is also another dr. who knows nothing about lyme, but has been willing to learn more and work with us.
My best advice is to just stay tuned into your intuition about your daugther. No one knows her better than you do. Sometimes when I think back, there were just subtle things I needed to pay attention to. When I ignored my intuition I always missed something that may have helped him sooner. Then again, I had no idea I was dealing with Lyme disease. That changed everything.
Hope you find the help that you need. It really does make a difference.
