Hi All,

Between myself and my 2 children all having lyme, I have shared many challenges with all of you over the past 4 years.

Today I wanted to share a milestone. I stopped taking all meds in April of 2004 and I have now been of all meds for 1 year and am doing remarkably well.

I am so thrilled to have my life back and will never take a single day, or minute of my health for granted again.

I am back to work, am full of energy, and the best news is that I am able to play with my children again. They have a healthy happy mommy again and I thank God everyday for returning my health to me. And for giving me the opportunity to be a part of my children's lives.

And after 3 years of basically being too sick to exercise, I am now determined to get my body back in shape again as well... So I just started a 6 week body make over by Michael Thurman.. ( I'll let you know how it goes )

It feels so good to have energy again. I went hiking last Sunday to see a beautiful waterfall. With the snow melting off the mountains, the water was flowing in full force and it felt so good to be able to experience the wonders of mother nature again.

My road to recovery has been a long one.... one many of you have shared with me. And I want to thank you all for being there every step of the way. With out you and Dr.D, I honestly don't know if I would be alive today.

While I don't think I will ever be "cured", I am content with being 95% better and thank my lucky stars I have come this far.

My children Derek and Mikayla are still being treated by Dr.Jones and are both doing better. Derek's main problem is joint pain ( Dr.J tested him for juvenile arthritis) and I think Mikayla will go off meds in July.

I am thrilled with their progress...

So as a family, we feel so blessed to have found this site full of wonderful caring people, who were able to help us get through some of the worst times in our lives and I just wanted to take a moment to share some good news with you all.

I continue to keep you all in my thoughts and prayers and wish you all wellness.

God Bless,
LymeBrat
~Missy

lymebrat- thank you for sharing your well again story with us. I plan to get well again and play with my daughter again. Please tell me how you were able to feel safe hiking in the woods. I'm afraid to go anywhere not covered in blacktop or concrete. Thank you.

Congrats on your one year anniversary! Thanks for checking in and giving a good report.

This is the type of news a newbie needs. I've been on Biaxin 3 months almost and plaquenil 1 month.

Congratulations!

Doesn't it feel so good to be drug free!

I am rounding 10 months and it is WONDERFUL!

It is a real thing that can happen. I often wonder for how long, but know that a day has not gone by where I have not thanked the Lord and lived it as it were my last one. Life is precious and wonderful when it is given back!

So, my message to everyone.....hang in there, it too can happen to you!

JJ

Hi Everyone!

thanks for the posts and well wishes!

hey Gary,

Good to "see" you. I'm so glad I was able to help you! Ya, I got back on the horse or back to hiking..I figured I'm not going to let Lyme take away one more second of the things I love to do.

I do take precautions while hiking, and If I do find a tick, I'm a little more educated ( more so than most doctors I dare to say about Lyme this go around, so I'll know what to look for and get treatment ASAP!

Jo

I definitely plan to stick around! LymeNet has become my family and I will continue to stop by and help when I can..How are you doing? Let me know if I can help in anyway!

Shelly

Would you believe I haven't had a problem with yeast..it's wonderful. I'm not on probiotics anymore, but I do eat healthy, exercise when I'm able and take vitamins.

Janet

I understand how you feel about ticks! There was a time when I'd see one a freak out. Or when I was literally afraid to sit on the grass..but as I said I refuse to let Lyme take one more second from my life and won't let it take me away from things I enjoy..but it's taken me 4 years to get to this point..lol!

Thanks again everyone for sharing the joy of my 1 year off all antibiotics..I pray one day we will all be cured from this disease!

God Bless,
Missy
