"June 30, 2005

This is AN URGENT CRISIS:

As unbelievable as it sounds, we in the
U.S. are again on the verge next week of losing our right to use
dietary supplements and nutrients. The International Codex
Alimentarius (food code) Commission meets July 5-9, 2005 in Rome to
ratify the Vitamin and Mineral Guideline for ALL members of the
World Trade Organization (WTO), including the United States. This
guideline was developed by a United Nations Committee under the
auspices of the World Health Organization.

Once ratified, all
members of the WTO, including the U.S., would be LEGALLY bound to
abide by the rules of the Vitamin and Mineral Guideline and
compliance would be mandatory in Europe beginning as early as this
summer and in this country as early as next year.

The Vitamin and
Mineral Guideline states, as summarized by Rima Liabow, M.D of the
Natural Solutions Foundation, to the American Academy of
Environmental Medicine:

1) "All therapeutic nutrients will be
illegal for use unless tested as drugs before January 2010 and
altogether after that date.

2) The application period for testing of
a nutrient as a drug closes July 12, 2005 and virtually all
applications (which cost approximately $800,000 dollars) have been
rejected.

3) The Vitamin and Mineral Guideline will allow only a few
ultra low dose vitamins and minerals and only in the synthetic,
pharmaceutical-company manufactured formulations.

4) ALL OTHER
VITAMINS AND MINERALS, AND ANY MORE POTENT DOSES, WILL BE ILLEGAL
SUBSTANCES WHICH CANNOT BE OBTAINED WITH OR WITHOUT A PHYSICIAN'S
PRESCRIPTION."

"The Chairman of the CODEX Committee for Nutrients
and Foods for Special Dietary Purposes, Dr. Rolf Grossklaus, has
publicly declared that 'Nutrition has no place in medicine" and
nutrients may not be used to 'prevent, treat, or cure any disease or
condition.'"

We have naively thought we in the U.S. were protected
by our hard-won Dietary Supplements Health Education Act (DSHEA),
which was passed by Congress in 1994 to protect our right to use
dietary nutrients as foods. The international Vitamin and Mineral
Guideline will supersede our own laws, unless we act now to prevent
this.

We DO have an advocate for the protection of our own laws
allowing the use of dietary nutrients as foods and not highly
restricted pharmaceutical substances, Dr. Edward Scarbrough, U.S.
Manager for Codex.

But Dr. Scarbrough can't act alone without
concrete proof of a flood of US citizens' support for his position.
