in an earlier thread it was mentioned that rocephin should not be amber colored and if it is, that it is an indication of it being at room temperature for too long.My rocephin always arrives amber colored.Should I be concerned?

I'd call Roche (sp)if that's who mixes it...I get mine thru Wal-Greens (they mix it)...mine is always 'light-pale yellow'

Last week (bad storms) our electricity was out off and on for four days...the last being this past Thursday til Friday (22 hours straight)...I called the Walgreens
home infusion pharmacy and the pharmacist said "Throw it out"...said don't take the chance, that it was probably no longer any good.

I removed it from the fridge...set all the prefilled syringes next to the sharps container...I looked at it the next day and it was dark amber, yuck!

They delivered a new shipment over night. Mine always comes in a styrofoam lined (all sides) box, well insulated and includes 3-4 of those freezer packs.

I'd call for sure, if I were you!

Take care...

Zing, my daughter got one batch of reddish amber color, versus the light yellow color. She took two doses and got massive headaches from each does immediately (didnt even finish the infusion). While the homecare IV place said it was ok, we opted to throw it away (arghhhh) and get fresh.

In additon to calling Roche, perhaps you can take it to your drug store and have them look at it to help determine the amount amber that is good.

This must be different than what I took. Mine came frozen in an IV bag and was clear.
