It's recently been released that Daryl Hall of Hall & Oates has
ehrlichia and Lyme. He describes his diagnosis and treatment on the
band's blog: http://www.hallandoates.com/blog/2005/07/lyme-disease.html

"I have since been put on an antibiotic (doxycycline) for one month,
and if all goes well (by no means assured), I will be cured. I hope
this is the way it works out, 'cause I MISS YOU GUYS and want to get
back on the road. Let's hope for the best.

Lyme and other tick-related diseases are very serious maladies that
for some reason have been underplayed by the media and medical
profession. Chronic Lyme causes arthritis, heart problems, stroke -
even death. This is serious stuff, and the public should be better
informed, as it has reached epidemic proportions in the Northeast!
You'll be hearing more from me about this. Wish me well!"

Just read what he wrote about his symptoms & the development of his disease.

Doxy should take care of the Ehrlichiosis.

My concern is that a month of Doxycycline is not enough when you have a bull's eye rash and symptoms of Lyme.
He needs to treat until his symptoms have been gone for 4 to 8 weeks.
Wonder what dose of Doxy he's taking per day?

Hoping his treatment will be adequate and
I certainly do wish him well!!

Too bad there's no way to send him an email. Yes, he needs to find this site ASAP!

As a lot of us know, this disease can become very chronic and 1 month of abx usually doesn't do it.

Hope he recovers quickly!

I sadly remember almost three years ago hearing that a month of doxy should take care of it...I hope for his sake it does.

What a shame that it takes famous people to get the word out that lyme is horrible and doctors are part of the problem.

But at least he will get good treatment and can afford all the non-covered stuff.

Besides, how can we live without hearing "because your kiss is on my list" live in concert.
