IDSA has been so recalcitrant, so ignorant and wrong about tickborne diseases, that it makes me doubt what they say about all other infectious diseases.
Who would have guessed pre-Lyme, that our worst enemies would be state and federal health agencies and the professional society which claims expertise in infectious diseases? Mind boggling.
Thanks for posting this. I had tried to copy and paste the content, but failed, being a low tech person.

Oh, this makes me SO furious.
I just hate infectious disease doctors. They are possibly the worst, even worse than neurologists.
They would MUCH rather refuse to acknowledge Lyme and continue diagnosing people with chronic fatigue, lupus, etc., and lining their pockets indefinitely.
Will ILADS PLEASE PLEASE respond appropriately to them?
Thanks for posting this drivel for us to see.

From IDSA letter:
"In addition, contrary to the bill's definition for ``related tick-borne illnesses,'' Bartonellosis has not been established to be a tick-borne disease of humans."
"These results support the argument that ticks are involved in the transmission of Bartonella organisms and represent a potential source of infection for persons exposed to tick bites. Therefore, we encourage further investigation of ticks as vectors of human pathogenic Bartonella strains."
I suppose it depends on what your definition of "is" is.

If you write to complain, along with the complaint, send the studies, and/or links there to supporting your assertion that contradicts the idsa's hircine decree.
I plan to include a complete package, and I've discussed possibly going to harrisburg with my husband if needed. Although, I don't think I'll need to, Rendell is a good guy. (unlike our Mayor here! )
What I don't get, is I went on their website and they have nothing proving their argument about the matter. Where are these placebo studies they are talking about??
Is there a way to request this information from them? and have them grant the request of course.

This letter is so frustrating. It feels like we will never be acknowledged by doctors in general, and certainly not ID doctors. They would prefer to keep us invisible and just sweep us under the rug. GRRR!
Kimmi, I believe their reference to "controlled clinical trials" refers to the one study done by Dr. Wormser et al a few years ago that was ill-designed and showed no benefit from "prolonged courses of antibiotics" which consisted of one month of IV Rocephin followed by two months of Doxy (at, I believe, 100mg once or twice a day - certainly NOT high enough a dose). That study, when it came out, really made me mad and now this letter makes me mad, too!

The truth about you wearing chicks under-roos while driving your blue dodge pick up? .. Knew that already, but thanks for sharing.
Tree, any word from ilads yet?
Annie, This really sickens me. You have to love how they bend things to fit THEIR needs. Did they even use abx during this trial? Maybe they just fed those people tic-tacs and called it a day.
Anyway, I can't wait to see this 'research' they performed. I have alot to do so I'll check it out when I get up.
Disclaimer: The first paragraph of this post should not be misconstrued as name calling in anyway. This is a known fact that is shared by all members of Lymenet, and a dirty habit that is continually carried out by the intended receiver( HA!.. I said receiver!) of this message
Thank you and have a fabulous day!
-Kimmi P.S. please keep me posted on this.. no not the under-roos.

They need to be challenged to produce their references, studies, etc.
Just show your research results that contradict their flat assertion.
They rely on our(the public's and leaders' included) "blind" trust in their public announcements and are not used to being seriously challenged.
Whenever possible, use government-funded studies to show contradiction, as "Uncle Sam" can NOT contradict himself, cause he is "never wrong." The cdc's own data is a good start.

Thank you for your great advice. If you can suggest anything else I'd appreciate it. If I'm going to do this, I want to do it right. I'd like to take my time with this, but If He has already received the IDSA letter, I think the sooner the better.
I am no spokesperson, frankly even thinking of doing this makes me nervous a little.
I did check out the placebo study. That's some crazy stuff. In fact I read most of their treatment guidelines.. I don't know. I think I'll print it out, I have a hard time reading the long stuff on the computer.
Take care, Kimmi
