Hi. I've been rearching various ways to try and spray our yard esp. our shady areas for ticks. But, I cannot quite figure out which is better.

Does anyone have experience with either one of these? Pyrethrin is more natural from chysathemum plants and permethrin is the synthetic.

Several local pesticide companies use one or the other and both think that their product is better.

Just wanted to know if anyone has had luck with one or the other. Its expensive to treat ($300 plus for our property) each time so I want to make sure that I make the best choice. I am finding conflicting information online.

Thanks. Stacy

I worry about using sprays constantly on large pieces of ground. It leads to resistance developing, and it kills more than ticks.

Don't want to interfere, but wondering if there is any chance of using this same insecticide in a less broad way, like the system that scatters cotton soaked with insecticide in tubes around the property. Mice use the cotton in their nests and it kills the ticks on them.

If you live in an area where exterminators are going after ticks, maybe they will know about this other system and tell you whether it might be suitable for your situation. Doesn't hurt to explore the alternatives.
