I need a little help please. Someone had emailed me from Lymenet a few weeks ago. They said when I reply to posts on Lymenet I should not use the Quote feature.. Is this true? Am I not supossed to use it? Thanks so much

Hi,

I can only guess to the reason why someone would not like you to use the quote feature...bold type is hard to read for those with eye troubles.

BUT, the quote feature IS there to be used.

Perhaps a compromise would be to edit the quote to only contain the relevant info, and not the entirety of the quoted post???

Were you using the quote feature for all replies?

If you don't need to quote the poster then use the "post reply" at the bottom of all the posts.

As stated, the quote feature is there to be used. Some people may not like it, but that is their problem not yours.

I have, I'm sure that probably came from me of what I copied/pasted here...

As explained below, the actual BOLD quote really causes my eyes great pain as it does some others who have gone decades without being diagnosed like my 34 years!

After all, aren't we lymies supposed to helping one another vs. causing them more pain as we try to help you with answers to your posts?

Some guidelines from Betty/others on using this message board:

* Do NOT use all caps when posting; it's hard on our eyes. But I know one of our members has macular degeneration, and all caps is what she can see & read so exceptions like this are acceptable for good reasons.

* We chronic, late-stage lymies can NOT read long paragraphs. So please limit your paragraphs to 6-8 lines max of text and double space between paragraphs.

* You can EDIT your text comments anytime. You can NOT edit your subject line so please make it as specific as possible instead of ``help, question'' etc. in order to have more readers/replies in trying to assist you. There are between 30-40 NEW/replies to post daily so we can't read all the posts on our limited time here...thanks for understanding.

* If you use the ``quote'' icon, please DELETE [B] bold at the beginning & ending of the quote. This makes it easier on our chronic, late-stage lyme eyes.

* To just reply without quoting, go to the top or bottom of screen in the black & white area to reply or post a new topic.

Many of us couldn't see it when we 1st started posting. Thank you for helping us all out!

Expecting a brand new user to know how to edit, paste, retype and navigate this site is just unrealistic.

We have too many newcomers who come to this site and are crawled all over for using the word Lymes, posting under the wrong group or just posting in an "inappropriate" way.

If a posting is hard to read, I just skip it. I would never expect a poster to bend to my needs. Nothing says that I am required to read any posting. It is my choice.
