My GP ran every Lyme/TBD test in the book while I was in the hospital.

One is going to take 6 wks to get back. What would that be?? Could it be a blood culture? or PCR???

It may not be the test per se that you are waiting on, but that you are such and such in line behind people who are actually in the hospital at this time.

Depending on the size of the hospital & size of the lab staff, you might be put 'on the back shelf' sort of speak.

Thanks Kara! I think it was sent off to Quest labs [ugh]....He told me some tests would be back in a week, some in two-three weeks and at least one would be back in 6 wks.

PCRs generally take 2-3 weeks. But a blood culture for Lyme (is there a lab doing this?) could possibly take 6 weeks before they would call it negative.

I'm interested, please let us know when you find out.

I'll see my GP this Wednesday and hope to remember to ask! I do have a list of questions going! Now to remember to bring it along for the appointment! My surgeon also wants to see me Wed. I'm so popular!

Lymetoo,

I am sure it is a blood culture that they are waiting to see if something grows out of it. It could possibly be a type of mycobacterium that is classified as a "rapid growth" even though it takes 6 weeks! That is what mine took and unfortunately, it was positive, but caught early enough before it moved to my lungs.

At least they are checking this! My doc left mine go for 2 months before doing the culture!

I hope you are feeling better. How is the temp?

Keep me posted!

JJ

Hey JJ! Thanks for the info and the greetings! I'll see my GP tomorrow, but the 6 wk point won't be until September. I hope it will show what bacterium we were dealing with.

My temp is in normal range most of the time now....but higher than MY normal.

Lymetoo,

Hang in there! Even if your temp is in the normal range, but higher than normal or what it used to be, something is still going on.

I am still praying for you!

JJ

Well, sheesh! Saw my GP today and he said there wasn't a test that was going to take 6 wks!!! This info was from another dr who took over for my dr when he left for the weekend.

So...everything came back "normal" as far as TBD's....HA! Of course, these tests were done by Quest. HA, HA, CHUCKLE, CHUCKLE!

He checked me for Folate deficiency too. One of my CBS's indicated it could be a problem....and being that I'm still so fatigued....well, who knows?
