Robin,
I hope when you read this you're safe and dry and have not had much property damage from this storm.
Jordan, Again, glad you're okay.
You'll both be in my thoughts and prayers, along with anyone else in the path of this storm.
Thanks for posting this, Lymetoo!

Still looking for beach4so. She lives in Bourg, LA. I think it's SW of New Orleans...so maybe things are better there than "might have been." Hope the family is OK.
Kara, how's it going? Robin?

for the future, if anyone who has a cellphone with a sufficient number of bell's and whislte, AND you get caught in something like a katrina storm, I believe you can send a message to the board, or email someone you can trust to let us know how your doing.

It's possible, but I hope not.
Now we've got people in the path of the tropical depression, and resulting tornadoes in IL, IN, TN, GA, etc.

I'm worried about my friend Beverly. She's a "lurker" here and is in Jackson, MS. She spent last night with a friend, but was to go out today to check on her house.
I haven't heard from her today and the circuits are down. I did speak to her last night on her cell phone.
I'm really worried about how her house is. She, like the rest of us, doesn't need one more financial disaster.

Ok...I'm talking to myself here. Just talked to DR Wise*** and she said Beverly's house is OK for the most part...no electricity and she's suffering in the heat, but hoping to get a generator. She may stay with her friends again tonight.
DR Wise***'s in-laws live north of New Orleans and they are currently in Jackson, MS. Dr W thinks their house is mostly OK. She's still trying to find out for sure.
PS....the lovely cell phone co's are apparently charging people roaming because of the emergency situation. So that's why I haven't heard from Bev. DR W said she must have forgotten to email me.

Hello all! Gayle Starr and family are ok. They are with her uncle in MO. Their house is ok too except for trash and things as far as she knows. She is suppose to call me again and let me know when they can get home.
My prayers are with you all and my heart is sad for all who have lost loved ones and homes and businesses. My God give you all strength.
Blessings Mule

I just now received a text message from my sister in NO. She was able to grab my mother and head 30 miles out of the city. No phones, power, food, etc.
But thank God they at least are safe.
Still very concerned about other relatives there...

Mulelover, I didn't even think about calling you!! Thanks so much for the report on Starr. I was hoping she was in Missouri. Glad to hear they are all OK.

Has anyone heard from Kara yet?
I just can't begin to imagine how these people are able to cope with the situation. I thought Hugo was terrible, but this is so much worse.
Will continue to keep everyone in my prayers.

I am sure relieved... and WOW does she sound southern, haha!
Yea for Southern accents!! and I'm a very proud native Houstonian tonight! Thank you, Houston and Texas for offering the Astrodome and your hospitality to the storm victims!

Finally got thru on the phone to my sister and family about 70 miles north of New Orleans. Was their first phone call since the storm. Pretty good that phone co. got the system up and running after only 2 days. But no water and power system is going to take 2 weeks, they are saying. Sister's house OK but it took out a lot of her live oak trees, some very old and big. They bought a generator yesterday. No school in session, curfew in effect.

What a relief for you, lou! Glad to hear that they are mostly OK! Being without electricity, especially when it's 95 degrees outside is really rough!

Checking in Finally!! Were all safe, most of our family is spread out some here in Missouri others in Ala.
House is fine trees down, power lines ect. Main thing we are safe. We will be here for another few days for sure. We are looking at no electricity for a few weeks.
They have started moving some from New Orelans to Houma which is only 10 miles from my house. The reports are they are not staying in the shelters and have actually started roaming the streets. I am praying they just want fresh air and the looting doesn't start.
We are thinking my husband will go home first then myself and kids will go in a week or so when the lights are back on and if it is safe. He doesn't want us there if the looting and all will start around our town.
I will check back when i can, trying not to tie up phone line with computer. Waiting for more news from home.
