Really easy to do! Short and sweet! The number of e-mails counts and these short messages will get the point across quickly.
Ann - OH

For Senate go to http://www.senate.gov/ to get the e-mail address of your 2 senators.
cut and paste this Senate bill message in your e-mail. Be sure to sign with your name address and ph. # (if the form doesn't already require it.)

Please support S1479 (sponsored by Senators Dodd and Santorum) by becoming a co-sponsor of this bill for Lyme and Tick-borne Disease Prevention, Education, and Research. Lyme disease is becoming an epidemic in our country and help is needed now.
Thank you

For For House go to http://www.house.gov/ to get the e-mail address of your one representative. (you can e-mail any other rep from your state, too! Be sure to sign with your name address and ph. # -if the form doesn't already require it.)

Cut and paste this House Bill message in your e-mail:

Please support HR 3427 (sponsored by Representatives Smith and Kelly) by becoming a co-sponsor of this bill for Lyme and Tick-borne Disease Prevention, Education, and Research. Lyme disease is becoming an epidemic in our country and help is needed now.
Thank you

Thanks Ann. You have made it easy to do. Five minutes to contact your reps in Congress about these important bills.

May not even have to switch over to email to do this. My reps had web comment pages, so I could just stay at their website and do the whole thing.

Thanks for keeping up with this, Anne! We need to keep this in front of legislators in the face of all the other disasters that are coming fast and furious.

Hope you can take time to contact your congress person. Just cut and paste the short message and e-mail it right on the congresspersons website.
Simple!

Is anyone writing?

I sent mine, got back kind of dopey reply from intern apparently. Hope they are at least tabulating the subject matter for senators/reps to see.

Thinking maybe letters to editor of newspapers would be good too, and visits by groups, if anyone up to it. Maybe on days when he/she is in local office. Or personal contacts to staff.

Have been worried that they are cutting all sorts of programs, like medicaid, in order to pay for the Iraq War and the hurricane damage repairs. But then the newspaper said an Alaska senator had gotten $250 million to build a bridge to an island with only 50 residents. So, if they can waste money like this, while they are cutting medicaid, then why not ask for lyme money? Too bad there aren't more lyme cases in AK. Just think what that amount of money could do for lyme. Spent the right way, of course.

You are right, Lou. We need to keep their priorities straight.

As I said before, the health interest staff person keeps records of how many letters and e-mails the congress person gets on each subject and when there is enough emphasis and they can see that others are co-sponsoring the bill, they will sign on and they will vote for the bill.

Write, e-mail your congress person - today! So easy to do and it can make a huge difference.

Just cut and paste.
Read the message at the top of this thread.

I wrote. Barbara Boxer wrote back to tell me to be sure to have my earthquake kit ready, but didn't say a word about Lyme.

Guess I need to write again.

I was pleased to see one of my senate representatives (santorum) was already sponsoring this. I emailed my other reps as well. I also read santorum's website and he aknowleges that the tests arent accurate and we need to find a cure. People are suffering everyday with this disease. PA is ranked 4th.
