I saw your post and was really sorry to hear that you have had to go through so much.
I am impressed that you are pushing through to be in school right now. I have lyme and can hardly imagine how you do it.
My 14yr old daughther and 11yr old son also have lyme and it has been hard. They have been treated for 8mos and are getting better! My son's arthritis is almost gone-he was not walking much at all because his feet hurt so much. He felt worse before he felt better.
My daughter has had her challenges emotionally with lyme. These are improving dramatically as she is recovering.
I am glad to hear that you are going to get the IV treatment. Antibiotics really help!
Well, it certainly is tough to be in college right now! But I finally got in touch with all of my professors and they seem very willing to work with me with all the absences/lack of class participation. I guess I'm really lucky for that. I'll probably take next semester off so I can get all the sleep I need and allow myself to heal more.
My arthritis is picking up a lot now, and I've been having these awful earaches and headaches and stiff neck. oof!
But I've done a lot of research now, so I'm a lot more familiar with my "adversary" and how to handle it. I must admit before the diagnosis I didn't know the slightest thing about Lyme!
I'm hoping my emotional/psychiatric problems clear up very fast once I start treatment I can't wait to start getting better...

I just sent your post to my 19 year old who I have encouraged to contact his college profs like you.
You sound quite sensible/mature...... recognizing it is most important to take care of yourself.
You will find lots of support here and maybe some contacts with twenty-somethings.

Hi, Hope the arthritis settles down.
Sounds like a good idea to take some time to rest next semester. The IV treatment can make you really tired at first.
I think it is true that depression and the like tend to lift when the lyme is better. We, ourselves, could not make it without medicine for the anxiety and depression and for sleep. I am not crazy about taking giving it and taking it...But for us I feel like being miserable emotionally doesn't help us heal so it is the best choice for us. Some people say medicine for this is a crutch, uneeded, etc. My take on this is that those who say this have never been depressed or anxious.
Anyway, you might want to talk to your dr. about this. Just something to think about.
