My new little baby grandson ...... Julian Michael ........ was born 10/30/05 at 11 AM ........ weighing in at 7 lbs. 8 oz. and is 20" long.
My son, Joshua, still seems to be in shock .... and is very tired .... as am I because we have been talking on the phone at all hours.
But tonight I am up praying and sending special thoughts to baby Julian. He has a heart problem. It started out when he was born .... it took a little while to get him breathing ..... they had to suction out his lungs because he had swallowed so much of the placenta and whatever else is in the birth canal. Within a few minutes they had him breathing and crying, thank God. Then they noticed that he was breathing very fast .... almost hyperventilating ...... it would last for quite a few minutes and then he was breathing normally ..... but still having spells of fast breathing.
They then performed nine tests on the poor little baby. It was his chest x-ray and then the ultrasound that picked up the heart problem. About 50% of newborns are born with a small hole between the two chambers of their heart. This hole will normally close up on it's own within a day or two after birth and then everything is OK.
But Julian has two holes ..... the small one has closed on it's own as of yesterday afternoon ..... but the other one is much bigger and is not closing. I also reminded Joshua to tell the pediatric cardiologist about my oldest son, Michael having Cardiomyopathy (it is genetic ....... Joshua and I were tested years ago and we were both fine ..... so we figured it was on their absentee-father's side of the family.) But it also could be on my Dad's side of the family because we don't know too much about them. The cardiologist said that would help them when they run more tests on Julian this morning.
So I'm praying for my precious grandson .... that he won't have to have heart surgery .... that whatever he has can be fixed easily and make him healthy and strong. And I'm praying for my son, Joshua and the love of his life, Angela, to stay strong. I wish I was out there .... Angela will be discharged from the hospital today and baby Julian will have to stay. If I was out there, I could take care of my son's step-son Eddie (who is only two) while they go to the hospital and I could also go to the hospital and stay with the baby. I also pray that the Navy will let Joshua have this time off to take care of his family as he is on shore leave and his ship won't be back for a few weeks.
So please help me pray .... my previous grandson, Julian, and his parents need many prayers right now.
Thank you for your time, Deb

Julian Michael and his family are in my prayers. Four years ago, a family at my church had a son who was born with a large hole in his heart...
He was too small and weak for surgery - so the drs. said that he would need the surgery when he was a few months old. Well our church, and a lot of people were praying for the little guy!
When it was time for the surgery - he didn't need it! The hole had closed!!

Hi Deb,
You and your family were in my thoughts all night last night. I was up most of the night as my little girl Mikayla's, blood sugar was over 600 and she was so sick we spent most of the night awake and cuddling.
I told Mikayla about your grandson and she held my hand, asked me to close my eyes and she said a prayer for Julian and your family.
Please give us an update on Julian when you can and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers

Thank you all my friends for the prayers and lovely sentiments. Baby Julian is struggling for breath at times and at other times is breathing normally. I have told him (in my prayers) that he has so many guardian angels looking out for him. Julian will see a different doctor tomorrow and I guess they will settle on a game plan.
I think about him 24 hours a day .... he's never out of my mind. I cry his tears and take deep breaths for him.
Thank you, thank you, thank you .... I wish I could take the time to respond individually to your responses ...... but please know I feel all of your love and prayers as does Julian .... I am certain of this.
Please continue your prayers, if you can .... and between me and all of you, baby Julian should have a very healthy outcome.
Much love to all of you, Deb

Hi Deb,
Thank you for taking the time to give us an update. I will pray that Julian's doctors be given the strength, guidance, knowledge and faith they need, to find out what is wrong with Julian's heart and make him well.
You all remain in our thoughts and prayers
Hugs, Missy

To all of Julian's precious guardian angels .... can you please continue to pray for my grandbaby. After seeing a new doctor today, they found that Julian's heart has another problem. The valve between the two chambers of the heart is not working correctly.
Normally the valve keeps the blood flow between the left chamber and the right chamber of the heart. Julian's valve is moving the blood up and down causing blood to leak out of the valve.
He is still having bouts of very fast breathing which normalizes after a while. But he is not laboring for breath or gasping for air ... so that is a good thing.
The Dr's are going to try and get hime to the age of one month before they decide how to fix anything in poor Julian's heart that hasn't normalized by itself.
I know babies are operated on successfully every day. But when it is your own baby or grandbaby, it is very scary even to think about it.
Thank you again for all of your prayers and good wishes. Julian sure does need them and I thank you for helping to keep watch over him with all of your prayers as little body is trying to repair itself.
Love, Deb
