Okay, here's my predicament. Maybe some of you have been in similar situations and have some good advice for me.
Used to be my right leg was the weak one. Now it's the left. So I step up with my right leg and then I have to pull the left leg up. It's incredibly difficult to get the left one up on the step.
All the while I am doing this I am pushing, or leaning, on my walker that I put on the steps ahead of me. This takes place at my office which is not handicapped compliant and there are five steps outside plus the one into the foyer of the building.
Any suggestions on how I could make this easier? Other than not going to work? I have had to ask my colleagues to actually lift up my left leg and place it on the step.

First, this building should certainly have better entrance options for people who have difficulty or are in wheelchairs etc.
Maybe if you lift the inoperative leg up to the step first and then lean on the walker while you hop up with the good leg, it would work.
I think you should use your cell phone to call the head of the company or office and ask him/her to come out to help you up the steps. It might shame them into making the bldg. accessible to everyone.
One other thing. Perhaps another entrance to the bldg would be easier. Sometimes there are better entrances at the back.
Hope you work this out. You shouldn't have to struggle like this. Ann - OH

There is no doubt this building is not ADA compliant. I understand my employers have been asking the building's owners to make these accomodations but so far nothing has been done.
Last night I fell on my rump on my way down the stairs. Luckily I wasn't hurt. Could get very interesting if I am injured.
My daughter will be graduating from law school in May.

I have to sit down and lift myself up, crawling upstairs backwards. This makes it hard to get a walker up after you, though, and you have to still get back up-right after. If you're already sitting down to go up and down stairs, there's less distance to fall anyway. You might have to carry a towel or something to use to sit on to keep your clothes clean. Just an idea. Good luck to you! I take Malic Acid supplements with my Calcium/Magnesium combo (Malic acid and magnesium are important to have together). Since started with the Malic Acid, my leg cramps are better, but one leg still weaker than the other, and it switches. Extra Vitamine E can help, too. At least for me it did. This is not medical advice, but something to check on.
