does anyone know if anyone has been cured who has had chronic lyme disease? I have had it since 1984.

Hi Imalymea,

If by "cure," you mean that every spirochete has been killed off, we have no way to test for that, and given the bacterium's ability to hide out in the cells, I doubt it likely that every bug could be wiped out with the drug protocols we have now.

I would rather call it "remission," meaning that the bacterial load has been brought down low enough that the body's own immune system can keep the bacteria from causing noticeable harm. The patient has his health back.

Many posters with long-term infections report being in remission, even after a decade or more of being ill, and years of antibiotic treatment. I would consider myself in remission just now, and am being careful with my lifestyle to keep it that way. I first came down with symptoms in 2001, so would consider my case chronic, but not as debilitating as some.

So if by "cure," you mean getting your health back after years of being sick, the answer is YES!!!

[Smile] Regards,
Shaz
