Ruled pad in a vinyl case to go in the car with list of errands to run.
Yahoo Calendar is my savior - I can access it home or work. - log all my appts. there - make notes of chores that need to be done It can send email reminds to yahoo mail or directly to our mail at the shop, depending where I am that day.
Keys just like you said - two places or they are lost, so only those two places. Same thing with the checkbook.
Timer is good...I'm going to have to do that for my middle of the day pills. Doc. suggested it last time I was there, because those are the ones I keep forgetting to take.

yeah lucy! I do the post it note to the door jamb too!
And, the post it note to my car dash. This has saved me many a day.
I only leave my car keys and purse in one place, if I post it online, I"m sure my house and car would get stolen toot sweet. . . but, if I for some reason, remove either (car keys or purse) from place they have resided for at least 15 years, then I do have quite the time looking for either when I am ready to leave the house.
If I bring my cell phone in the house for some reason (hardly ever) I usually leave my house without it, as I simply have become so accustomed to having it stay in my car. We live in hilly country, so it doesn't work when I drive halfway up my street. So it never comes in the house (unless it's in my pants pocket and I forget to take it out when I get out of my car).
I usually do walk straight to my calendar and write down appts. on it (magnetized calendar with large daily squares for appt. writing) when I am on the phone making those appts. If I am on my cell phone, in my car or otherwise, I write down the appt. info on a post it, attach it to my car dashboard, and then when I get home, bring the post it into my house, and either stick it on my calendar for transfer later, or immediately transfer the info to the calendar.
It is simply routine, and I can live this way ok. If there is a pressing appt. or other pressing info, it goes onto a post it note, and gets stuck on my kitchen cabinet door (so I can see it easily the next morning). I also do double post its for ultra-important stuff, one for the kitchen cab door, and one on the door leading to the garage (I always leave my house by this door, not the front door as my car is always garaged).
The post it note stuck on the door leading to the garage gets brought down to my car dashboard on my way out. Hate to waste!
One lovely tip here, only buy the "super-sticky" post it notes, as the original ones do not have enough stick to stay on the dash board of my car, and would fall into the crack of my cupholder, to be lost (like the note it held) forever!
I find that the least amount of steps to take means the more I remember whatever it is that I'm trying to remember. I tried online remidners, but do not carry a pda or other device (laptop) so usually whatever it was I was trying to remember or retrieve that way (electronically) was too much of a bother, so never worked well.

In my case, my biggest help is if something is missing, look in the refrigerator.
Sometimes my memory loss leads to some very interesting discoveries. In cleaning out a storage closet, I came upon a lot of things that were totaly new to me. Somehow that was sort of nice.
You both have lots of good ideas and I am sure we will hear more.
Make a list for the day, put "make a list" at the top, then you can cross it off immediately and feel successful. Seriously, my daily list is a great help. I keep it on the kitchen counter, and though it is sometimes in the way, I can't forget about it.

I take a regular size calendar just for ALL MY DRS. APPTS., blood work, xrays, massages, dentist, etc.
I write on each date if NEW med is given, brief notes of ANY DIAGNSOSES.
Main thing I keep this is I request COPIES OF EACH VISIT/XRAYS/BLOOD work, etc. When I get them, I check off that day.
This was needed for SSDI, social securit disability insurance benefits, but I'm going to continue it.
For ALL ERRORS, FOUND, I contact dr. PROMPTLY so he can revise them with my comments. My copy will then need HIS INITIALS in case I have to submit them to DDS, disaility determination services office, sometime in future.
I also tape drs. calling card with name, address, & phone no. to that month...required for SSDI too.
I use many of same things you do.
I also have a separate calendar for birthdays/anniversaries. My niece gives me each yr. & I just add my family to it.

Ann, you made me laugh!
I seem to have a black hole in my house somewhere -- things I know I have simply and completely vanish.
Since I once found the phone in the linen closet, I've never doubted my Lymey resourcefulness.
As far as remembering, I rely completely on my Palm. Never thought or imagined I'd be a candidate for something like this, but it's worked beautifully for me, especially because I can enter data on the computer and always have a back-up of things.
Now, if I could only master the writing part of it.
The other day, I was trying to write in a new appointment with my acupuncturist. Here's what I wrote: Cvuptvdist
Cryptic, even for me.
For the to-do list things that wake me in the night, I have a pad on the bedside table and an illuminated pen.
And, as Lucy said, I often call my answering machine from the road with things I don't want to forget. Then I'm always surprised when I come home and find a message...

Whenever I park, while at the mall(god forbid) or other large and not totally familiar lot, I always park directly in line with the door I'm going in/out even if it means parking a ways away( exercise).
That way all I have to do is come out that door and walk a straight line 'til I recognize the car. Hopefully my Lyme brain will be able to recognize my own car for a few more years.
I used to think, some one had stolen my car, awhile back when I couldn't find it. Now, with 100,000+ mi. and numerous dents, I know I've just misslaid it!

I had my truck painted BRIGHT PURPLE 5 years into my illness (10 years ago). Now i've lived in Santa Fe for 10 years, and I'm known as "purple truck lady" even in a city of over 70,000 people. the good part - I don't lose it when I can drive - the bad part - I have to behave very well in it (no road rage, no cutting people off, no giving the finger, speeding, etc...) because EVERYONE - including all the cops - know my truck. I meet people all the time who give directions based on where I park my truck in front of my house.
(Laurie Anderson fans - check out "Baby Doll' - all about an aberrant brain... pretty cute...)

My favorite trick is regarding driving. When I stop somewhere on a trip, I always park my car angle slightly in the direction I'm traveling. It sounds lymie, but if I don't I often forget what direction I'm traveling.
An obvious one is that I park my car in the last row at work--even if there are spots closer. It's way too cold to wander around the parking lot for 20 minutes.
